Shiro Supremacy.

Surprised by the vitriol, your impressions of the novels didn't suggest it. Pity there's no mention of the VAs nailing it either, or the various comedic flourishes like the realistic demon, Shiro fanning herself with the straw hat, the included fanart, the clover hair pin anger mark, etc. The effort was there, so I'd have liked to see that mentioned.

Do yourself a favor and don't watch this anime.

When will you people realize that saying things like that only makes me want to watch it more? Rolling Eyes

But for now, I'll take your advice.

There's no delightful character animation to be found here, only stiff movements that occasionally look as if the in-between frames didn't get delivered on time.

In the OP’s toe-tapping section (roughly five seconds into the theme song), it looks like Haru’s leg has been twisted backwards. I had to rewind and watch a few times as I wondered how Doga Kobo (who normally does a great job with animation) let this pass. It’s definitely one of their worst shows. Hell, Uzamaid was awful, but at least it looked good!

Doesn't bode well for My Senpai Is Annoying which is under their wing and starting in October. Confused...

Oh I trust Doga Kobo with that one. The trailer looked good, filled with the studio’s trademark tropes & cuteness.

Osamake is a show that on paper I felt like I would really enjoy with the VA's, character designs, premise, romcom hijinks, and Doga Kobo but it just never really shined as bright as it could have in my opinion.

I do kind of want to read the novels though.

At the time, the dance sequence was so bad I wasn't sure if it was supposed to look terrible as a commentary on the nature of viral videos. I'm still not sure, but probably not.

I still enjoyed the show, though.

I don't think it's a surprise that the performance they put the most effort in animating was the girls' idol song.

Dunno if it's because of the pandemic or anything, but I agree that this show wasn't Doga Kobo at their best.

So far, I can't say much about the original material though.

Haru's sob story is that his mother died when she tried to act out a car accident in the filming for a TV show. It's stated that the car never actually hit her, but she died because she was acting too hard.

I haven't watched the show and probably won't after reading this review but jfc this has me in tears, HOW does this happen and HOW do you think it's a good plot point to write????

I couldn't even make it all the way through the second episode. All the characters were terrible people.

I got more enjoyment out of the dumb manga adaptation this got because at least the characters actually emote visually and were usually in some kind of dumb pose. The story was amazingly dumb but I could see myself getting suckered in reading more installments of that than the painfully bland anime adaptation it got. Pity to see it didn't at the very least turn out to be a fun dumpster fire...
