Either ImaginAsianTV hasn't licensed Hikaru no Go beyond 26 episodes, or the series is taking a little post-season break for a while

I'm assuming Viz hasn't really dubbed it much farther than that yet, & that's why IATV is slowing down. They've been extremely slow on the DVD release of the series, having only reached up to episode 28 so far. Even Toonami Jetstream has only made it up to ep 24. They really should have aired this series weekly instead of every weekday. Not that I don't commend them on it. Looking over the listings, I had no idea how much anime ImaginAsianTV really shows. I really wish I had this channel now.

The JETIX block has been known for some cr^ppy shows and heavly-played episodes of Digimon (not to mention the heavly-promoted Power Rangers and other shows....)
when will they stop heavly doing stuff, like Canceling the Anime Invasion block isn't bad enough for us, that whole heavly played/promtoed stuff is just adding insult to injury from their "Block Removal" 2 months ago...
Nicely discribed on this week's BLEACH and Eureka seveN previews Brion.

Good column, as always, but it needs one factual correction:

Quote:
Elemental Gelade
(ImaginAsianTV)
Tuesday May 1 5:00pm - Episode 14 "Edel Reid Hunter Reappears" (Repeats Tue May 1 8:00pm, Wed May 2 12:30am, 12:00pm)

Ren, that debonair, swashbuckling space pirate, resorts to new means to keep his sought-after beau, Cou, safe from those nefarious Edel Reid Hunters. Warning: discussing the names and random nouns used in this series in public may confuse passers-by that you are speaking in tongues.

Got the names backwards here.

First Gankutsuou, then Kino's Journey and now NieA_7! Where is this magical, fairytale land called "ImaginAsian TV?"

Same old crap this week

You include Akira and Memories in the "crap" section? I don't care if Encore started a channel that just showed Akira on a loop 24 hours a day, I still don't see how it qualifies as "the same old crap."

It's a cable channel that's available in several markets. If it were possible, I'd trade the AZN Channel (which seems to only air old CPM titles, half of which aren't really worth it at that) Verizon Fios provides for IATV in an instant.

On the subject of Akira and Encore - if you've got the Comcast "On Demand" version of Encore, they're currently running it Widescreen.

So they cut off the entire ending of the episode. Wow, Adult Swim has truly hit a new low with the way it handles anime. That's basically the equivalent of giving fans the finger after 50 weeks of loyal viewing.

I caught the episode on the Fix yesterday. As soon as I saw that the usual OP and ED animation had been eliminated for additional air time, I wondered how [as] would handle it, given that for the last 49 episodes they'd been using an extremely shortened open and close. I didn't see it again tonight, but from what everyone's said, I find [as]' handling of this situation disheartening at best. Yes, I wasn't expecting them to drop the "all important" ads, but they could've changed the schedule around a bit to accomodate the extra run time. Heaven knows it's not like Champloo's been around the block a few times already, there's a candidate for pre-emption. Bah.

Earlier in the week, [as] ran an "We heart / <3 you anime" bumper (or something similar to that). Suffice to say, it's feeling an awful like a shallow sentiment at best right now.

EDIT: Thought about it some more, and came to conclusion that there was no sentiment, save some mockery.

The most baffling part is that the original episode didn't even have the OP and ED. Why did they even need to show them?

Well, that explains why the ending seemed abrupt. While I am bummed that AS cut off the ending, I am also releived in that I have something to look forward to when the final DVD is released. Which, at this point, will be about a year or more from now. Anime smallmouth + sweatdrop
