Japan are really making a big deal about misogynistic situations as of late.

Weebs have talked down on concerns from Chinese and Korean fans before, so you bet they will.

Good, the series is terrible and misogynistic so I don't see a problem.

Well, if this ain’t a case of the pot calling the kettle black I don’t know what is! I find it highly ironic that it’s China, CHINA! out of all countries who’s spearheading this crusade for gender equality and respect towards women.

It's ironic because China has like, these schools for how to be a "good wife" or something, and place a lot of emphasis on traditionalist (and a lot of the times sexist) values.
But I also don't think the series is "misogynistic", bit of a bold claim that isn't supported by the series' themes.

Hopefully western companies will follow suit, anime fans already have a bad rep and people supporting pedo rudeus, the 40 year old guy the undresed a child against her will, doesn't help

Its a country that banned anime like Sword Art Online, The Testament of Sister New Devil, Date A Live, Date A Live, So, I Can't Play H!, Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero so this is nothing new.

Anime like Mushoku Tensei are made to publicity the Light Novels and BDs in the Japanese market so China or US are not really that important. Of course streaming helps cover the costs but that's it.

This also shows how unreliable overseas markets are, so keeping the focus on domestic fans and letting overseas companies choosing whatever they want to show is the best way.

When some critics call the piece of fiction they're criticizing "misogynistic", I have to wonder, how many of those those claims are legitimate, and how many are just using that word because it expresses the level of anger they have towards their target more precisely than simply calling it "sexist"?

I already doubted the "technical failure" excuse before, but this does help explain suspending that streamer apparently wasn't enough for them.

Honestly China banning something might be a good reason to check it out at this rate.

What's with this thread and people calling for a ban of this series even in the west.

The triggering and trolling is going hard here. :/

Haven't watched the series, but it seemed to be your average "otaku reincarnated in another world" story --- not exactly a prime candidate to be the controversy lightning rod it has been so far. Geez, in a season with Redo of Healer in it, you'd think it'd be easy to go under the radar, so what the heck did THIS series do?
