It's actually called
"Mokona no Okimono Kimono"

http://www.clamp-net.com

..and it's not a manga. It's mostly a photobook.

http://www.kawade.co.jp/okimono/

Official publisher's homepage.

Additionally, if I'm not mistaken "Okimono Kimono" isn't "O-Kimono Kimono," but "Oki-mono Kimono," as in "decorative kimono."

nope, They have it written in english on the official site, so that's how I expect the english title to be spelled.

I'm not criticizing the spelling, that is fine.
What I am criticizing is the explanation of the Japanese title, which is incorrect.

The O is separate in the explanation to emphasize it's role as the honorific "O" that preceeds certain nouns (okyakusama, ohenji, etc.).

And my point is that another meaning has to be taken into account here, that of "okimono" both as 置物 and also as お着物.

I asked my husband, who is native Japanese, what he thought, and he agrees with me that the reasoning for rendering this in katakana is so that both of these meanings can be taken into account, to use BOTH meanings.

I'm having a hard time explaining this, and trying to be as specific as possible, but it seems like I might still not be getting this across...

The site for the exhibit includes a picture of the artbook cover.

Was the drawing on the cover specifically created for Okimono no Kimono? I mean, if I saw this at a store without knowing what it was, I'd immediately mistaken it as a CLAMP's Kobato artbook. That's clearly Ioryogi in a cage there.
