I'm late to the Eva franchise. But they keep making new things so its never to late for someone who just watched the movies!

Embarassed didn't realize just how much power EVA had.

That's what Gainax does: milk the franchise for everything it's worth. Can't blame them since the fanboys are probobly going to by whatever junk (anyone remember the $3000 doll they were selling?) they put out, and they're probobly never going to replicate the success of Eva.

Being a fan of Eva myself I half say I think that is very true and I also think that it will be interesting to see what these new movies will be like.

Replicate it? It's already one of the most successful anime series of all time. I don't think there's any need to "replicate" the success of the franchise itself. Perhaps the new movies may not be quite as popular (though somehow I doubt it). Like Evangelion or not, it still holds up today and doesn't feel outdated (even if the animation does a bit).

Believe it or not, even if it is still successful, they will always continue to sell Evangelion products no matter what. PC games. Lego toys. You name it. It's there.

I have a feeling that the movies are going to be VERY popular and I have to agree with you that Evangelion still holds up and I belive that is quite amazing and very impressive on Anno's part since most anime series tend to only be remembered a year or so later.

What's the appeal of Stikfas? Just out of curiousity.

I'm sure the studio heads disagree with you. I wasn't talking about the new movies, as I'm sure they'll be successful, I was refering to their newer series. As for Eva "holding up," that's up to debate. I like the series for what it does and the sheer ballsiness of some of the direction, but it is deeply flawed (which you have to expect from this kind of story) and rather overrated. Impact is undeniable and should be required viewing (even if you hate it), but that doesn't make it perfect.

I know I'd see it and I'd expect the movies to be a big enough of a re-thinking from the original to make it worth it. I'd love to see a re-thinking of the characters and situations. And as for Gainax, I hope they pay their taxes on time from the huge profits they'll make.

Well, for one it's a figure that you build for yourself, and it can be completely customized with it's mix and match parts.

They're really fun ^^

and I'll be getting the stikfas EVAs, I'm sure they look cool Very Happy

I demand a deluxe action Pen Pen figure, with dual beer-holding grip, little newspaper, towel, bath kit, and can of Yebisu.

(Refridgerator playset sold seperately.)

This is very well said, and it is better than what I was going to say myself, so I will just add my agreement and a few extra comments. EVA is good; I am not denying that. It just doesn't even make it into my top five list (the ending killed the entire series for me). I will still recommend that you watch it, but I roll my eyes ( Rolling Eyes )whenever I see new EVA materials coming out.

In my humble opinion, I think this type of story was told much better and more cohesively in the video game series Xenosaga. True, it came later and "copied" the themes of EVA, but it managed to do so in a much more compelling way. I know I am going to get severely flamed for this post, but I just think that this kind of story has been told in a much better way since EVA came out (at least with Xenosaga, and I would argue for Eureka seveN as well), and I DON'T think the series has held up in comparison to them.

As for the stick figures, which is the subject of this post, let's see if THEY hold up to good old GunPla.

While I don't collect every (or even a little) Evangelion figure, this definitely can fit on the shelf of an Eva fan-- and with maximum poseability. Not to mention it's going to cost pennies compared to other figures of the series.

Frankly, I think we need more FLCL action figures. Good poseable ones too. I want a nice sulking Takkun (Naota) on top of my computer.
