Paranoia Agent is a solid series and has been out of print too long.

I hope they get it. I have wanted to own this show for a long time.

I'm surprised they didn't rescue this series a long time ago

DAMN! I was hoping Discotek would get it! Ah well. Better get ready for locked subs.

Fantastic news! I have all of Kon's works on DVD except for Paranoia Agent and the last time I checked the after market prices were pretty steep. Hopefully this means a BD release, I would love to see this in HD.

SWEEET! I actually sold my DVD set a few years back because I was banking on Discotek getting it eventually (and wanted to sell it while the market was still there for it), but this is good too! I still need to pick up Perfect Blue and Millennium Actress on BD (and later, Tokyo Godfathers). I still have the ancient bluray for Paprika though!

Also, I believe there's been a UK bluray of this series for quite a while (and also for Berserk)

After Netflix picked up Evangelion, I'd thought that Paranoia Agent represented one of the biggest "white whales" of widely-respected shows that had been licensed and since fallen out of print. Assuming Paranoia Agent is made available again, perhaps Baccano! or Blood+ will take up that mantle.

It's an SD digipaint show from the mid-2000s, so I wouldn't expect anything amazing. PA did get a Blu-Ray release in Japan, and from what I've heard, it's at least a passable upscale. Hopefully we get that instead of a different encode that winds up being worse than DVD.

Satoshi Kon is one of my favorite anime directors and I love his films but I never got to see Paranoia Agent though I've always wanted to. So I'm really excited about this rescue license and I can't wait to see it.

I have my Geneon set complete in box, but I'm still super excited about this getting rescued. It's been out of print for far too long and I'm glad new fans will get to be born again.

(I just took a peek and apparently my box is going for $200+ on eBay and that's a big yeesh.)

We've only got a DVD release of Paranoia Agent in the UK, and it was edited in one particular episode. It'd be nice to see this potential Blu-ray release make it over here, even if the same edits remain.

This makes up for them turning Interspecies Reviewers into a persona non grata by a long shot.

But really, I'm surprised Discotek didn't make a go for it first.

Not so sure of that since Aniplex owns the series and Funi's been losing video distribution rights to a number of titles they had from Aniplex, like earlier seasons of Black Butler and Fullmetal Alchemist.

Ack. Gotta sell my set ASAP. This wouldn't be the first time that I sat on something that was rare and didn't get around to selling before it got reissued.

It'll be nice to revisit this one after so long. I only ever saw this on Adult Swim but I missed out on the DVD releases (had I known there even were releases; Geneon was just one foot out the door then). Took awhile but worth the wait.

Just occurred to me, had Netflix picked this one up they would have probably redubbed it. So...silver bullet dodged?
