One of the juries at the festival is Park Chan-Wook, the director of "Oldboy." As his movie was also based on the manga, it would be interesting how he'd rate "Mushishi" (though I haven't seen the live-action of Mushishi as of yet) and Gedo Senki.

I know I'll just be let down, but I like Mushishi and Otomo too much not to have some expectations for this movie.

Live action Mushishi? This is the first I've heard of it, I can't wait to learn more! I do hope the film retains the beautifully creepy and mysterious feel of the manga and anime series. And I hope even more that it comes to the US very soon...

Any info on Mamoru Oshii's work would be much appreciated.
There is no entry for it. |

I don't think Otomo's Mushi-shi has anything to do with the show.
But wow: master versus disciple. (Otomo vs Kon). The sparks are gonna fly. 8-) |

I think that's because the film isn't "anime" as it's generally used around here. (i.e. It's animated photographs, not animated "drawings.") It has been mentioned on the site before, though: http://animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=8385
If only Tachiguishi Retsuden were in competition, then Kon would have another "master" to compete against. |
