That's pretty unexpected but I'm glad to hear it.

From what I heard, the movied did get the vibe of the french TV version. And even people that grew up with it in the late 80's/90'sthat were very sceptic about it said it was pretty good. Not perfect, with some bad subplot, but it's clear that the realisator was a fan knew what it was about and grew up with it.
I'm really curious to see it, actually. But people has to know there were some changes compared to the japanese anime in the french version. A lot of more graphic scene were removed, despite the character still being a pervert. So I'm not sure how it will work outside France, because City Hunter hardcore fans might feel it's amiss. |

It's got to be better than the Jackie Chan City Hunter movie. |

Highly unlikely. French comedies rarely work for me -not that I've seen that many- and even though City Hunter is no Police Story 3 or Drunken Master 2, it's still more enjoyable than many other Jackie Chan's post-80s movies. |

Sceptic is quite an understatement... But yeah, everyone tought he just didn't care about the licence and added lots of useless characters so all of his friends can play in it (well, when only 1 teaser out of 3 showed the main character, so that was a little understandable) And now all the reviews (of people in their 30s) are saying it's the most faithful live adaptation of an anime they saw... I'm as curious as you, it could even be a better ad than releasing good trailers in the first place. |

Thankfully I like French comedies so this should be quite palatable for me. :>
Can't wait til it gets subtitled. Months from now. |

Saw it a few days ago, it was great. But I am not sure a translated one would be as much appreciated by non french speaker. Especially when there are references to other animes ^^
