This is really dumb for me to say this, but what was just reviewed?

Hirameki International is releasing the Exodus Guilty series on DVD format. It's their last venture with the format as they are going to switch to PC-only.

If you want a better game from Hirameki to serve as an example of a dating-sim game, you should check out "The Hourglass of Summer" (AKA Natsuiro no Sunadokei) --it has a storyline where your choices actually affect the outcome, with a rather interesting sci-fi premise. Basically, you wind up skipping back and forth through time in order to protect various girls from accidents & calamities. The girls look good, and while it's a lot of stillframes and lengthy dialogue, there is some suspense and cute/tender moments. (There was a 2-episode OVA Series made as well.)
It doesn't surprise me that Exodus Guilty has many subtitle errors; HoS had a fair amount of errors, though not as many as EG, from what the review says. While playing HoS, I got more of a "ignore this fansub and wait for a better group" feeling, as opposed to a "this is a bootleg" feeling. But thanks for the review--I was thinking about getting EG just to have another similar game, but considering the one-track story and high error count, I think I'll use nine hours of my life on something more productive, like marathoning 25 episodes of Naruto. |

Thanks for the review. I've had the PS one game for ages and my japanese at the time was never good enough for me to understand what I was doing.

I concur with the Hourglass of summer recomendation. It hs good art, good plot, has lots of choices to be made, and is like 20+ hours with multiple endings as well. Ever 17 which they released for the pc is also supposed to be very long and very good (I haven't played enough of it to make a personal judgment.)
