Harukana Receive is up to a decent start. While the writing and visuals are very pedestrian, the girls are likable and easy to root for. Haruka is especially a blast of positive energy. I hope the show is able to keep up its attitude.
Its first 3 episodes earn a B- from me.

I liked the first episode but episode 2 was off to such a week start from me that I couldn't bring myself to keep watching. I don't mind fan service when it doesn't detract from other aspect of the show (I really liked Keijo), but when the show just goes on pause for extent segment that serves no other purpose I just drop out.

I haven't watched an anime this simple and unpretentious in a while. It's setting up to be a zero-effort weekly hang-out show. We might not remember it this time next year, but that's fine too.

For me it was the opposite, the first episode left me with doubts, but I loved the second and third episodes and they got me hooked on the show.

Quite an enjoyable series so far. I like the characters and its’ drama is easy to follow and be engaged with. The fanservice is nice, of course, and I look forward to seeing how this show progresses from here on out.

Oh, Lauren, I love you.
I haven't actually watched the show yet because I've decided to wait for the dub, but I'm rather hyped.

At first, when I read this anime would be an ecchi I thought it would be just boobs and asses moving around, and yeah we got that, however, the main focus is on the characters' relationship and the fact they focus on the sport itself which make the show really enjoyable
Kanata is just extremely adorable and her story make this sport interesting, so of course, I will keep an eye on her
Haruka reminds me of Asuka in AoKana, suddenly she knows a sport, she just wants to play it, she wants to enter into a tournament... and now we probably will see a super high fast OP improvement (like in AoKana)... I hope this is not the case because all the charm we are getting from these new relationships and her approach to the sport would be futile, and the anime would be just cliche and boring one

Quote: | They may be cousins, but their friendship is what some would call sisterly, and what I would call something like yuri. Beach volleyball is played in pairs, and the show frequently likens it to dating. It probably won't move beyond hinting, but Kanata's blushing proclamation of “I think your butt is absolutely adorable” is sure to become a frequently deployed screencap. |
It reminded me of Ballroom e Youkoso because of the similar attitude to sports pairs as a kind of romance with all the ensuing consequences, although Ballroom as the official (heterosexual) romance was more open with this. At the same time, it's more blatant in the original manga, where Haruka seems to understand the whole homoerotic nature of the premise and regularly teases Kanata with ambiguous "jokes".
However, it's still a sports show from Manga Time Kirara Forward, so given that the work never goes beyond teasing jokes, I'd rather say that this is just a good trick to add homoerotic fanservice to work, similar to many other sports anime like Free and Prince of Tennis, than "serious" yuri hints. And it seems that the adaptation tries to make it even more subtle, already cutting out the most yuri-ish scene from the first volume.

I'm liking this series so far. Haruka is awesome and Kanata's hang ups and anxieties are relatable. I also think it handles the sports/fanservice/drama balance pretty well (with episode 2 of course having some whiplash between fanservice and drama).
Also, I really dig the music and animation in this. This is definitely my relaxing watch (I do expect to get invested in the characters and I already am, but I find the experience overall pretty relaxing) of the season.

Kinda reminds me of the manga Beach Stars. Wonder why THAT didn't get an anime?

It's actually amusing already that compared to the drama bomb dropped on Hanebado, I can safely assure this show will be a comfortably well-grounded sports show (with intrinsic fanservice to boot)! I mean, I seriously doubt Haruko and Kanata will face deplorable opponents meant to taunt the two.

I could do without some of the more gratuitous ecchi-camera leering, and after the resolution of Kanata's first hangup it struck me as weird and dramatically monotonous for her to have yet another one manufactured in the very next episode, but otherwise this show's been watchable. Haruka and her American doppleganger manage to be entertainingly bubbly instead've gratingly bubbly, and are pretty fun to watch interact with the rest of the cast.

"yuri hinting"
You know I was gonna comment on the so called "homoerotic" nature of the show, especially since all the girls are in swimsuits and there are no men at the beach but my jokes might be far far too risqué to comment and might leave a few with a bad taste in their mouths.

Not just on the beach, there are actually no men in the world at all. Much like Love Live, this show takes place in a world where men have gone extinct.

There were a few dudes if you squint at some of the crowds. Heck, they even showed a shadow of the grandfather fishing.
