Gotta love that last bit telling everyone who animated Thundercats so the newbs don't go all "ZOMG THUNDERCATS ISN'T ANIME!"

Actually, even though it was animated in Japan, I think it was written and produced in the U.S. So would that really make it an anime? I guess one could call it an anime that doesn't look or feel like most anime. Or something.

Actually, according to certain definitions of anime, you could interpret it as the ANN staff reminding people that Thundercats isn't anime (as the central core production was done in the US), but did have animation outsourced to Japan, hence the reason it is so often associated with anime.

Wasn't the opening the only part that was outsourced? The opening is VERY anime-ish. But the rest of the show looks like crap. I used to like this show when I was a kid, but when I watch it now... oh god it sucks.

The "Thundercats movie" you speak of is actually a 5 part TV episode known as "Thunderacts Ho!" It is the first 5 episodes on the season 2, volume 1 DVD.

But isn't anime usually a definition for animated cartoons originating in Japan?

Transformers was animated in Japan but written and produced in the US.

Transformers isn't classified as Anime so neither is Thundercats...
