One of those franchises which is massively popular in print form but never gets an animated adaptation, instead getting live-action series and film adaptations instead. I remember this series of novels retailing at the local bookstore in its heyday, so it's a surprise to see the last volume is now on sale and the movie adaptation is giving the franchise one last boost before it rides into the sunset.
The long novels award is not given lightly so it's got something to back up a gamble into a live-action film adaptation. Up to the paying public to decide whether it's a hit or a miss. |
