If that's her real name, there shouldn't be anything they can do to stop her. If it's a stage name, I can fully understand their argument though it still seems pointless because you can't just give the name to someone else to perform with.

All she really needs to do is change a kanji in her name and there's jack the agency can do to her.
I see seiyuu do this all the time when they switch agencies.

Dont't know the contents of the contract so we can't really tell if the agency is in the right or wrong.

If she came up with the name when she signed the contract it could be argued that her rights to use it ended with the contract. The stage name is basically a brand that they own. (a name can be pretty handy in social media, even if its not the original person)

However if she had the name before she signed the contract, it could be said that the agency was basically just licensing her name. Their rights over it ended with the contract. It is her IP unless it was otherwised signed away in the contract.

That being said, this is really dumb because there's nothing to stop her using an identical stage name. The agency is kinda dickish for thinking she had an obligation to run the announcement by them after the contract had already ended. Im on the fence about her real name being revealed though Im slightly leaning towards the agency being wrong in a moral sense, but then again...... legal issues.

She doesn't seem to mind though. Who cares.
