Mega Shinkai domination is entering 2018. I can only imagine what the ratings will be. Interesting thing about the ending credits. I wonder what it will be.

no doubt his next film will be highly anticipated, but he will be hard pressed to replicate the success of 'your name'.
Maybe he'll throw some extra scenes in the credits he wished he could have put in the theatrical cut.

I know it seems like an after thought in the article, but I didn't know that the guy doing the live action Your Name script also did Arrival. Granted I thought the movie was quite a bit dry even by drama standards, but you knew it was well written. That gives me hope. With how much hate JJ Abrams gets he is still a great producer of content. It's in as good of hands as you could really hope for.

besides the gorgeous visuals the movie was a hotmess of potentially great ideas that just didn't reach their full potential I can't really blame the guy for trying to make the movie at least slightly better and closer to his original vision just hope that for his next work he won't make the same mistake

Why can't Hollywood just leave anime alone. All they ever accomplished is raping the original and when getting enough marketing, making online searches for the original harder.

I quite doubt it'll be another one of his simpler tone pieces, now that he's found gold with a more complicated story. Good news for those who are fond of the latter, I can only assume...

I imagine that over in the US, Starz might eventually get the rights to/premiere Your Name. on TV, though it won't be nearly as advertised or exciting.
There's a crazy fantasy in the back of my mind that Toonami would premiere it, but they have little faith in movies and Funimation likes to play hardball with them.

They think animation is a lesser artform, plain and simple. "They had a good hit, you know what'd make that better? Anything but 2D animation." I just imagine they see it like animators are playing with toys in the sand and true artists are stepping in to show them how it is done.

Just saw the TV Asahi broadcast of the movie (on a Korean website), and I can confirm that the credits were indeed cut down. Shinkai removed all the animators names with the exception of the lead animators and anything that won't require two columns of names. Also, to the left, Shinkai put scenes of the movie on there instead of just credits.
