Consider the current state of Toshiba, not surprising. There is no way they can continue their sponsorship. But Sasha’s san is a nationally popular show that has been aired for more than 4 decades. I wouodn’t be too concern about them finding a new sponsor

I guess the laws about advertising are different there; makes me think of the role Geritol played in Quiz Show.

In light of Toshiba's sheer instability, I can't say this is a surprise. I could see Fuji TV being a good candidate for sponsor.

Sponsorship on Japanese TV is akin to that of what American broadcasting was like before the 1970's, when practically most programs had a main sponsor attached, who also owned a percentage of that program, often leading to such ordeals as having the cast members pitch the product during the ad breaks or even naming the show after the sponsor.

Fuji TV technically can't sponsor the show since they've broadcast it since day one, their name is in the credits.

I hope Toshiba pulls through, it's the company I trust most when it comes to optical media video players, at least on the affordable-name-brand end of the spectrum.

Whenever it is that I get a 4K UHD Blu-Ray player, I want it to be a Toshiba.

Wow. 48 years. What a run. Well, it's Sazae-san so there's nothing to worry about. Everything will be fine.

Hopefully, still it would be interesting if they could make it to see the big 5-0 at least.
