Can anything aside AX aspire to be "the biggest" anime convention these days? SDCC perhaps, but that is sustained by other fandoms to a significant degree.

How many times can we enter? I'd hate to get disqualified for re-entry.

I already have my weekend pass since I love in the NY/NJ area.
I hope that Anime NYC will be like the return of New York Anime Festival. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=m0NlTE2n0Jk |

This whole convention is very confusing. "The biggest" but it clearly isn't (15,000 is like 1/10th the AX attendance this year). Many parts of it are "powered by" something or other. The promo video has some con footage, which doesn't make sense because this is a brand-new con that hasn't happened yet. Lots of aggressive manufactured(?) hype, in general. Kinda like it's trying to have its cake and eat it too, by looking new and shiny but also old and established.
I guess this is a rebranding of that Crunchyroll con? Or something? "Left Field Media" is certainly an appropriate name for its other sponsor, which is probably also Crunchyroll, under a different name. |

NJ's Derpycon is on the exact same weekend as Anime NYC.
I hope it won't hurt it's attendance numbers. I wish that Derpy had happened on a different date so that I can go, too. |

Left Field Media is a company entirely (AFAIK) unrelated to Crunchyroll that was founded by a former ReedPop (New York ComicCon) executive, and it staffed by a number of former ReedPop staff, including Peter Tatara. Leftfield struck up a partnership with Crunchyroll. One one hand, LeftField, and events company, handled logistics for Crunchycon, and on the other, CR is sponsoring Anime NYC. Other LeftField events can be seen here. |

As one of the winners, I am curious how I am getting the passes. The fine print doesnt really give me an answer so just wondering if we just need to show up at registration. If anyone could provide an answer I would appreciate it
