Fall looks decent this year, some shows that could be hit or a miss.
Personally, I'm looking forward to a lot of the sequels in particular Food Wars and Kekkai Sensen S2. Hope it will be better than last year's Fall. |

GINTAMA IS BACK! YEAH!
I've missed the full comedy Gintama so much, I like the serious Gintama but this has its charm too |

If only they could incluse the Love Potion arc in this season, at least it would be available on CR.

So when and where do we get to vote for what shows get full coverage for this season? I've missed it so far

That generally happens after all of the season's shows have debuted and been written up for the preview guide. So probably in a week so. |

You do realize the entire point of the Side M episode 0 was to be a prologue for Jupiter joining 315? And you're complaining about 3 songs in an iDOLM@STER anime? Clearly you've never touched imas in any way.
And Saitou (the chief/president basically) being faceless is...yet another imas trope. Seriously. Do a bit of research on the series instead of complaining. |

Just a small correction for Im@s SideM: Jupiter isn't the protagonist group. The three idol boys who appear at the very end of the episode are. Jupiter's the focus of Episode 0 likely because they already appeared back in the 2011 Im@s series and the Im@s 2 game and would've been familiar faces for the audience to ease in with.
EDIT: With that being said, I hope people who aren't completely on board with SideM will give the actual Episode 1 a shot too. Episode 0 is mostly built on familiarity with earlier Im@s stuff and the backstories for the main group are completely different and more interesting. (The poster boy character is an ex-lawyer for instance.) |

The schedule: https://myanimelist.net/anime/season Some great stuff here. Juuni Taisen may be of interest too, despite mixed signals.
3-gatsu no Lion 2nd Season The best show of last year is back and SHAFT is apparently willing to adapt all the way. Inuyashiki Here it is, the 2nd series by Mr.Gantz that is worth it. He is officially not a one trick pony anymore. The ending is again a bit... eh and the structure makes no sense but boiling all of this down to just 1 cour could lead to an improvement on the source. Kino no Tabi - the Beautiful World - the Animated Series Expectations are established here. The new manga by Shiomiya Iruka should be the blue print, i hope. Check it out if this 2nd adaptation falls flat as it´s the best adaptation of the LN yet. Kujira no Kora wa Sajou ni Utau The first fantasy show that is destined to not peter out as it goes on in quite some time. The Tezuka nomination was fairly earned all in all. Osomatsu-san 2 The boys are back in town. Shingeki no Kyojin - Lost Girls is getting an OVA. The Annie story is alright, the one for Mikasa is pointless. Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin is getting ep.6 while Thunderbolt is getting a movie compilation. Godzilla: Kaijuu Wakusei may lastly be of interest, despite me never liking the writing in Polygon productions and the hack Urobutcher is doing the script. |

Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou / Girls' Last Tour
A simple character study,a slice of life with an post post apocalyptic setting. Too many are expecting something far different. |

While I don't agree with her opinion on SideM, I'm fairly certain she has touched the franchise before. I thought SideM was pretty good. Male idols is one of the few kinds of show I generally don't watch, but I was interested in this one as it was attached to the Idolm@ster franchise. I can't speak for fans of male idols, but as a fan of the franchise, I thought it was a fitting addition. Focusing on a group from the 2011 anime was definitely a good way to get people into this season. There were some nice cuts, though it is a bit more restrained in that regard as with CG as compared to the original. The story definitely interested me, and if it gets more interesting in the actual first episode, well I'll take that. I don't know that this series will make me more interested in male idol shows, but in all likelihood it will increase the number of that kind of shows that I've seen from zero to one. On another note, nice to see good ole fashioned comedy Gintama. I'd heard there was some uncertainty about the format and the newness of the material, but so far it looks like full length, previously uncovered comedy bits. That "recap" was just great (they even had Kemono Friends , which coincidentally aired the same season the last new season of Gintama aired). I'll enjoy serious Gintama when it comes back, but I'll take all the comedy Gintama I can get. |

The opening "recap" of Gintama was a delight, but for me it went downhill from there, with a few laughs sprinkled in. And I can't agree that it looked great, since to my eyes it seemed like there were an awful lot of off-model/wonky shots where that wasn't part of the joke. Is the same studio doing this as last season?
I'm still totally on board for almost anything Gintama throws against the wall, but it just wasn't as funny as I was expecting for a season premiere. |

This title caught my eye most prominently out of this season's debuts. While the current licensing arrangements prevent me from watching it, I do want to cheer for the show from the sidelines, so to speak. Should it fare well and enjoy a life outside of Amazon, it may be something I eventually sample. |

On the "why do they call the women angels" thing in IM@s... I'm not sure how widespread it is in idol things, but I've heard other groups having like, a fandom nickname, that they don't call their fans "fans", they call them something like "angels" or "princesses". (Marginal #4, my favorite group, calls their fans "starclusters").
That said, the only thing noteworthy/particularly good about this new one was the dance animation. I just wish I could see that level of dance animation with better songs, better singing, better costumes, and better characters. I want to believe in the whole idol genre, since Marginal #4 is my favorite thing in the world, but so far, none of them have been as good as magi4... Magi4 has great music, great singing, great costumes, and great writing (with surprisingly good subtle character development) even if the dance animation isn't as great... |

After a pretty disappointing Summer slate - Action Heroine Cheer Fruits will be the sole show I pick up on Bluray from this past season, and is probably my pick for "anime of the year" so far - it looks like Fall has the potential to be very strong.
I have four shows I'm very exited for (Kino's Journey, Ancient Magus' Bride, URAHARA, and Girls' Last Tour) and I'm looking forward to seeing if any other shows take me by surprise. |
