In my experience, a lot of times Canadian showings get announced last minute if they happen.

. . . did they make this announcement without knowing what theaters will be hosting the screenings, or are we being left to guess when and where we need to go?

What's funny is that the UK bluray which I've preordered will deliver just a week or so after this release, with a dub no less. Even if this movie gets a really limited theatrical run, I'm covered Razz

Edit: Live in US, have a region-free bluray player. I suggest everyone to do the same!

I don't know. FUNimation and VIZ are usually pretty good at giving us a good idea that we are getting them pretty in advance. Does Eleven Arts has a good track record? Never heard of them. They don't inspire much trust to me.

I really want to go see this in theaters BUT we didn't get In This Corner of the World, surprising after such a track record of getting anime screenings. I'm guessing that's the fault of the theater chain owners in my area more than the license holders in fairness so now I'm doubtful Crying or Very sad

They do that quite often. The theaters show up usually about 3-4 weeks out, in my experience.

At this point I'm not even surprised at how long it takes to get to the states. It was in Australia months ago, maybe even a year. I forget, but it's been ages.

Move to Australia, we get way more anime films and a lot sooner.

Yeah. If Funi was theatrically distributing, they would have had a dubbed version by now.

Given everything that has transpired, I think it's likely that no one could get the film until now, so regardless of who got it, it would almost definitely be the same. This isn't a case of one company being worse than another.

If you have multi-regional hardware, and you're willing to wait a mere week, your wish will promptly be granted!

I assume you're referring to the potential copyright with the movie's opening song?
