Oh well, CR gotta need to do everything to stay relevant after Anime Strike and Netflix.
Also, it's ironic that CR will localize the smartphone game yet they don't have streaming rights to Sword Oratoria.

This is exciting news! I have the Japanese version already though. I got a UR of Riveria on the first ever single pull. So I'll most likely stick with that account.

I'm looking forward to this. Anything in the DanMachi universe immediately catches my attention. I missed out on really getting into the Index/Railgun-verse (despite adoring Railgun itself), but was well on board for this franchise and everything involved with it.

Totally agree here. It's quite weird actually; although it could also be - potentially - hinting at the possibility that they will be cutting a deal with Sentai again soon if this Funi and Sony deal drives a possible rift between them.

I hope they will outreach and localize more smartphone games in english such as Ensemble stars, the idolmaster, and so on. (Idol trash here forgive me) it would be interesting to see that happen since SOOO many people love playing these games.

I can't get too excited about this. CR's translations and and subs have been pretty awful lately. Outright awful. Like in Sakura Quest, for two episodes they translated "tanuki" as "monkey". Tanuki are real animals so it's outright insulting to translate them incorrectly. Just one example. I have little faith CR will translate games any better.

Sakura Quest is translated and subtitled by Funimation's teams (which you can tell by the typeset used and lack of color coded on screen text) but I agree Funi's subs are never quite as good. Game translation should be fine though.

I think eventually they may get streaming rights for that show. Despite Amazon's deep pockets, I think the Japanese rights holders should be looking at the fact that CR has a better rapport with the anime community than Anime Strike. From there, I think they realize "oh! We should have given 'Sword Oratoria' to Crunchyroll from the start".

...You're being sarcastic, right?
Still, it's a good sign that the market has to realize the crossover between anime fans and J-game fans, and if CR is putting more money into the translation business, bringing the J-game adaptations over can help bring more eyes to the streaming series.
Hearing the idea of "Translating 'Dungeon', a show only streaming fans would know", I remembered an online fan-translated emulator for the dialogue-heavy SNES Sailor Moon JRPG, that never came over here, because US Nintendo was more interested in marketing commercial US titles to a "kiddy" game audience that knew the TV afternoon cartoons.
But now that modern next-gen gaming seems to have been taken out of kids' hands and into the core-fans', there's more middle ground to help sell a niche/cult title.
