How are they gonna adapt the scene from Season 2 with Nakiri's mom? That will be interesting.

How is that even relevant when this is the first season's English dub?

Uh, because they will eventually dub it? Why would they dub the first season and not the second?

It's happened before. Or a different studio took over. Saiyuki and Saiyuki Reload. They have to have the rights for season 2 so it's not automatic. Likely yes, but not guaranteed.

Sentai already has season two of Food Wars, and simulcast it last year. They just haven't announced their release plans for it, but given the show's popularity, it's extremely unlikely that they wouldn't dub it. Now season three could potentially end up with another company, but we will have to wait until fall to see.

The Sayuki situation was quite different. ADV never had those seasons that Pioneer/Geneon dubbed and released. They lost those seasons primarily because Geneon was on the production committee in Japan.

This has me wondering who'll pick up Saiyuki Reload Blast. If FUNimation picked it up for a Simuldub, which voice cast would they go with; ADV's or Geneon's? If they went with ADV's (which I'm assuming is what most fans would want, including myself), they could easily get Greg Ayres and David Matranga to return, but Illich Guardiola and Braden Hunt are definitely not coming back. FUNimation could maybe get the main cast from the Geneon dub to return, but it'd definitely be more expensive.

...Or FUNimation could just recast everyone, which probably isn't ideal.

Darn it, I can't watch this because June 30th is Day 0, which, with my regular 4-day admission, means I can't go see it. Day 0 is the special day for the VIPs and such.

CORRECTION
According to the Anime Expo schedule, the Food Wars dub is scheduled for 7:00 PM in Video 1 at the JW Marriott. Something else was scheduled for the 6:00 time and room.

Well, if you don't mind spending the extra $20, you can get a Pre-Show Night badge to attend all the Day 0 programming.

Thanks for pointing it out, but nah, I don't feel it's worth $20 just to watch it ahead of other people. I'll get my fill of various things over the following four days. (Though it might be a problem if some of the rare items being sold sell out by the beginning of Day 1.)
