I gave up on PARK Harajuku: Crisis Team! (at least on Crunchyroll) a long time ago because it would go weeks or months without an update. Even when they posted on Facebook that it had been updated - it hadn't. Even when they'd posted about four or five "new" updates - it hadn't. And when it was updated, it was vapid as hell.

To be fair I am probably behind on how much the series has updated because I didn't actually want to read it and just saw news posts about it when some miracle update happened but, I feel like I only saw about like 5 drawn pages and a bunch of text pages and the story seemed to not have gotten beyond vaguely introducing characters. Plus it wasn't so much a webcomic as a vaguely light novel-esque thing with cute art and dull writing.
But again, may have advanced beyond that.
Well, good for them or whatever. At least the designs will be cute.

Can someone just tell me why ANN use "inspire" when it comes to manga, light novels and video games become a basis for an anime? I don't think the producers simply read/play the base material, get an eureka moment and go "You know what, this would make an awesome anime!"

Nice! I really liked the whole concept, but was severely disappointed when it was just bits of "lore". The anime might be pretty good.

It's not just ANN. There are times where American movies/TV shows say "inspired by" or "based on". I guess these have become the standard for crediting the sources.

I get "based on", as the shows must have been based on their respective source material. Like I said, nobody suddenly gets inspiration to make an adaptation.
