What's the point of re-telling the story instead of continuing it?

Would much prefer a second season instead.

It's probably like the SAO movie, where they announce season 2 at the end of it. The manga just got enough chapters out to adapt into a single cour anime a few months ago, and the 13th episode/OVA had a montage of characters from the manga. The first season adapted 30 chapters.

If that's true then I'm really hoping for the season 2 announcement. I enjoyed the first season.

If Funi had licensed rather than Sentai/The Anime Network, I could have watched a legal dub stream by now. Seriously, what is the delay with the dub getting a legit stream?
