Not very! They're just banking on Pokemon GO's success, hence the shoes only being of the first generation. (Nothing new here...yawn  ) Also thanks to PG, all nostalgic Poke-related merchandise on sites like eBay have skyrocketed in price.

@Hikarunu: I would not be surprised. However, it is ultimately up to a court whether or not it is fair use. Also, less Nintendo forget that they also have made video games based off of public domain characters and thus those games are derivative work of sorts.
