I was just watching this last night, having seen both seasons of the subtitled version on CR when it aired. I had my doubts about the English dub but I'm quite over that now. They did a fantastic in the acting even though the lip flaps are often way off.

Is there a longer version of this song somewhere? It is so pretty I have watched the full credits for every episode. What I find so captivating is its sync with the chalk-board animation while it is playing. Watch it on a big high res screen. When she sings "hello shooting star" it appears and the whole thing explodes in fireworks -- all done with yellowish white on a dull background. Really amazing.

What impressed me most is how the story is still watchable for a second time through. There is so much in it you can see things you forgot about or somehow missed. For example the episode with the poison was hilarious and I don't recall it being that funny the first time around.

Yeah, the full version is somewhere around 3 minutes and it's easily attainable if you know where to look for it iykwim Wink (dunno if it's available in iTunes or Spotify or anything of the sort). The full version is also very beautiful

Some of the Irina jokes go too far

I'm glad you mentioned this, but I wish you had actually talked about it in the review, because it's a consistent problem with the series. I loved the show and am collecting the manga, but the treatment of Irina is just awful all around. Maybe the author was not entirely aware of what the phrase means originally, but having the students saying Irina was "our bitch" was just wrong in every possible way, and it's a recurring joke that wasn't funny the first time and never quite improves. It's a great series, but the treatment of Irina's character is very upsetting

I sort of doubt it'll be on there... but the single for the song can be bought here at least: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/AVCD-83121
Alternately there's this CD coming out in September that has all the songs from the show: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/EYCA-11130

Hard not to agree that the "professor bitch" thing wears out its welcome pretty soon but it isn't as if she didn't bring it on herself.

Personally I have a soft spot for Irnia. She's a character type that I like: a competent super-tough girl who actually has cred and can be dangerous but now and then it is revealed that she is actually at heart the goofiest girl in the class. For example after the 3rd episode she appears for a flash during the opening credits dance. Look at her expression.

Other great scenes of hers include when she was pretending she didn't want to go on the Kyoto trip and was called on it, then later Kurasama has to order her to change clothes.

You didn't like the Irina jokes? Personally I found it best when Karma called her "Yella-Bitch". I admit it was kind of sexist, but it wasn't blatantly intended that way.

^I'm pretty sure it was more intended to show how she didn't have the students' respect in comparison to Koro-sensei rather than sexism, just as her overt sexuality was probably meant to poke fun at the femme fatale character type. That didn't make it sit any better when you realize that she's the only adult female in the show, unfortunately - especially when you factor in Koro-sensei's "punishment" of her after the gym shed fiasco.

I probably wouldn't have found the Professor Bitch jokes as funny if they had kept as Bitch-sensei or translated it as Ms. Bitch. So props to Funimation for the translation job (as a whole, not just that one joke). I was surprised at how much I liked most of the class as characters especially Nagisa and Kayano. Nagisa was a capable MC, who worked well with just about anyone in the class. I think the only character I didn't like was Karma because he is an asshole who almost always comes out on top.

I haven't checked out the dub yet but I look forward to trying it.
