I'm so excited for this and I certainly look forward to watching Tri in theaters with my friends. Also I hope that the can retain as much of the original English cast as possible.

So glad to see Jeff Nimoy back doing Digimon stuff and dubbing in general! Last thing he really did anime wise was Digimon Data Squad.
And glad they're getting Mona Marshall back too! She also has slowed down on anime dubbing (other than Doraemon, Data Squad is one of her more recent anime works too). though it's not like I don't hear her often enough, I do love the hell out of South Park and she's voiced basically every female in the show for quite a while now.
I know that Joshua Seth has said that, if asked, he'll return to do Tai, so dammit, they'd better ask him! The more of the original cast they can get back, the happier the fan base will be! I just hope that this would get him back into voice acting for good, I'm not sure how he's making out as a hypnotist (the internet says "comedy magician"), and he was one of my favorite VAs from back in the day. His website claims that he performs over 80 college shows a year, but I just wish he'd do a few roles here and there if he doesn't want to come back full time for now.
The IMDB page has a lot of entries on it for English VAs, but I have no idea how many of them are accurate, or just wish lists (not that I would mind Travis Willingham in this)

The band is getting back together so far. The Joshua Seth return as been more positive than negative, so we shall wait and see.

She also voiced Konekomaru from Blue Exorcist (which is weird how that's one of those occasions where the dub casts a teenage boy with a woman when the Japanese version didn't) and young Shirou Emiya in both Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night UBW.
One voice cast that will make me curious is Mimi. At this point, I'm not as concerned that Philece Sampler can reprise her role since she most recently voiced elderly Toph in the Legend of Korra. But that's the thing, she voiced elderly Toph. Can she still pull off young, girly and eccentric? Also, I think a bigger concern than Tai/Taichi's voice for me in terms of reprising roles is Jo's voice. Michael Lindsay stopped voice acting at around... 2012, I think? I know this because in the middle of both the Bleach and Naruto Shippuden dubs, his roles were replaced by Doug Erholtz.

I guess this is what people were afraid of; an altered dub with changed music and names and the old voice actors rather than entirely new and faithful dub. Shame. Guess this is what Digimon is destined to be in America.

Oh no. I was afraid this might happen. We're probably gonna get a gag dub.

I really wish people would actually know what they talk about before implying stuff. Watch the first episode of the original Adventure dub. Its established that the dubs names are nicknames and not outright replacements, no doubt intended to match the lip flaps of the original Japanese version.
The thing you should worry about is the script writer; they could easily do something in tone with the original Japanese version if they get a decent script writer and not someone who wants to throw in jokes where they don't belong, making a rewatch incredibly dated. The only one in the original that's withstood the test of time is Etemon being an Elvis monkey.
The problem with the original dub was not the voice cast, it was the tone that the show decided to have. Tamers and Data Squad are generally the only shows that got off with the tonal changes.[/b]

Joshua Seth as Tai or go home, it would be like Spike without Steve Blum.

Exactly. Sometimes certain characters lack the essence when a VA does not reprise that role.

I still think Philece could probably do it, it's not like she was super young when she did Mimi to begin with (she was born in '56, she was already into her 40s when she voiced Digimon characters), but you perhaps also forget that she also voiced Cody in 02 (and Mimi again as well, though she rarely shows up anyway), two of the most different voices in the first two seasons were both voiced by the same person. When I saw her as old Toph, I got excited because she got more voice acting to prove awesomeness. Looks like she's doing some additional voices for Miraculous Ladybug too, so she has done recent things. I know she's probably into her 60s now, but I'd still say the chance that she could pull it off is still there.
Shame about Michael Lindsay just kind of dropping off though, I liked his work. Does Doug Erholtz sound similar enough though? He's certainly gotten practice. He also did TK in 02 (and given age, that would be the one they'd need back, not Wendee Lee who did young TK with Kari, Lara Jill Miller did both anyway), and Joe's sibling Jim, so maybe it would be possible? Hopefully he'll at least do TK again.
