Did not really care for 4 like everyone seemed to be, only got a small feel of 5, did not even bother with 6.
...more Dead Space would be nice, but we all know that's not gonna happen. |

The video they showed for RE7 was phenomenal. I'm so glad it looks like they are shifting away from the action/combat oriented games of RE5 and 6 and maybe going back to classic survival horror. I think i'd crap my pants if I tried to play that in VR though.

Even if you want to play it in VR, it's on the regular version of the PS4. But it sounds like RE7 will be playable normally, but then you will also be capable of playing the entire game in VR if you want.

I really hope it's not an FPS...

It's like they're trying really, really hard to be that Silent Hills demo, but have forgotten that that wasn't the type of horror RE did. And that horror wasn't RE's strong suit even before RE4 went full-bore action game.

Looks more like P.T., like AiddonValentine says...
True, though Capcom had been considering going in that direction before, given the early release footage before they changed it. Either way, Resident Evil is at least shifting away from action and back to horror. I'm excited for it. |

I really enjoyed Revelations 2, but if Capcom are proposing to shift Resi gameplay further back towards horror that is definitely good with me. I feel like this might pick up the story from Rev 2, probably reading too much into it though.

Except that's the problem; the series was always terrible at horror. At best it wanted to have its cake and eat it, claiming it was a tense horror game but then turning into "let's just shoot everything in the face because that's a lot easier." Plus I can't really say they were "horror." They have horror cliches, but they startled more than wrapping the player in a sense of dread like with Silent Hill and Fatal Frame. In all honesty when they dropped the pretense of being horror and went full-bore action with RE4 that the identity crisis was temporarily halted and the series would have been better for it had they not tried to backpedal with RE6. It's just a series with a very messy history. |

So maybe it's just me, but has anyone tried pausing the video around the 2:35 mark, at the close up of the photo? spoiler[Rebecca, is that you??]

There's a demo that's out now, but it's hard to say how indicative it'll be of the actual game. I'm watching a stream of the demo now and it's kinda reminiscent of the old P.T. demo. Extremely creepy. |
