I....wow! She almost looks like a green Scorpina than Rita Repulsa. It makes me wonder if she's going be more active in the battlefield than just sitting around delivering incantations and making her monsters grow.

Wow That is not a very Good costume in my opinion, plus rita repulsa is meant to be an old Hag not some super Model there is so much wrong in that one pic. Also edgy re-imagining in the same sentence Gives me a headache.

Wait, she's not Poison Ivy in Batfleck?

AHHHH! AFTER TEN THOUSAND YEARS I'M GREEN!
I'm not sure if I'm ready for a Rita Repulsa who has no giant hat.

Looks more like a Spinach Scorpina than Rita. I think they could've done a more faithful redesign of her while staying true to their "gritty" intentions. This is just slapping a recognizable name on an unrelated look.
Is Zedd supposed to be in this movie?

I think 42-year-old Elizabeth Banks would be thrilled to hear that you consider her super model caliber! That's an incredible compliment. She really does look great in this shot. I would love to see more actresses over 40 cast in genre movies.
Anybody read that description and immediately think of the '90s middle grade book series Animorphs? I wish they were making a movie of that instead. Although the TV show for Animorphs sucked.

MORTAL KOM-BAAAAAT!
So, I'm guessing new Rita won't get those two rubber-suit henchmonsters, either, that made the original Rita seem even more like Witchiepoo from the old HR Pufnstuf series?
I liked her with the old giant hat--Seems like the Japanese concept of "Evil demon-witch" always involved big horns, and I kept whether the original was trying to dip in to the same cultural idea that gave us Princess Dragonmum in the Shaw Bros. "Infra-man".

For a moment I thought they recast the Green Ranger.

AHAHAHAHA LOL!!! I completely just imagined her saying that and cracked up.
I do agree, no hat or extraordinary fashion attempt is a -1 but let's hope her evil is modern and up to date. They could have explored more with the costume and I'm a bit disappointed they didn't. Oh well, let's hope there's enough drama and evil from her to make up for the fact that they're more conservative with her costume this time around.

It's a neat looking costume and she looks great in it... But it doesn't look anything remotely like Rita Repulsa's outfit. The only similarity is that it is worn by a woman.
≠
I wouldn't be surprised if they announced that this was the film look for Sigyn (Loki's wife) or a Poison Ivy variant, but Rita is the furthest thing from my mind with this costume.

I was thinking that actually. Would explain why she's so green.
Assuming she becomes good, at least this confirms Lord Zed.

Oh boy.
Why do I get the feeling she's going to wind up being something akin to the one friend/teacher/mentor the teens all had in common, somehow either possessed by an ancient alien witch or being mind controlled by the true enemy (possibly Lord Zed)?
Would fit with the "future green ranger" theory too...

Yeah, she looks a heck of a lot more like Scorpina then she does Rita .
And a "modern and edgy re-imagining" of Power Rangers is what I was most worried about in regards to this adaption .
