I'm interested in anime and manga that stand on the fine line between action packed shonen and romantically inclined shojo.
(One such is Sakurano Minene's Mamotte Shugogetten, published by Raijin comics under the title Gaurdian Angel Getten.)
Any recommendations?

Love Hina and Chobits spring instantly to mind.

(Though Love Hina isn't what you would call "action packed" maybe Saber Marionette then.)

how could you forget X! Read the manga and watch the tv series or movie. (which is not nearly as good as the tv series but still good) There's plenty of action and a touch of ramance.

Apart from the anime already mentioned above, Planetes seems to fit the bill.

Fushigi Yuugi comes to mind, as does Vandread. Ai Yori Aoshi also comes to mind, but some other people may not think so.

When it comes to X I would just read the manga and not watch the movie or the TV series.

I think that Macross (be it plus, the original series or 7) fits this category too. Orphen has a few moments in it too, both action and some romance. Don't forget Inuyasha, which just jumped in my mind as a great mix of action and romance.

I strongly suggest Ranma 1/2 there is plenty of action and romance , not to mention all the comedy.
