I don't know why but I really fell for anime...reasons I can think of for falling for anime:
1) great soundtrack music 2) very expressive animation 3) story plots are quite interesting especially those that make you question ideas 4) I don't know but I can't get enough anime hehehe so those are some of the reasons I like to watch anime...what about you people? in any case ...i just wanted to talk about anime because i love it so much...thanks for stopping to see my topic. |

well, most of the stuff on tv nowadays is crap. also, anime just tends to be more creative and interesting than most things people are use to. because its animated, they can be much more expressing and experimental. plus, many people are drawn into it because it tends to be exotic and alien compared to what theyve watched

why do i like it? simple.
linear, progressive stories. unlike... CSI, you can mostly pick that up from anywhere. unlike movies, where it only lasts for 3 hours and you're done. unlike stuff like friends, seinfeld, etc. those are comedies with not a lot of continuity. most anime (at least the ones i watch) have stories that start at the beginning and end at the end. i can't get that anywhere else except in books. because of this, we can get exceptionally deep characterization and a lengthy well developed plot, which i really like seeing, whether they are inspirational, hated, or what not. stuff like animation artwork and music amplifies the effect but i'll rarely watch a show just because i like the music. art, maybe... but mostly it has to do with the continuous plot. american tv is ok and all and i'll get into the occasional show and some movies are great too, not that i have anything against those, but they just don't have continuous plots. |

i like it because it is plain simple entertainment.
and why is it good entertainment? - Animes are' generally then, "drawings" and that kinda pulls me out of the real world with all its worries and such. - The plots are often interesting and since it are anime, you have a chance to see things that can't be done in live movies like knowing what characters think on specific moments, flying spiders and MS aren't things you see in every movies. So anime gives more oppurtunities for good character development. and probably other reasons that i can't think of right now or that i'm unable to type them well enough in english so that my point is made clear

Well I guess the main points for me would be that anime ususally is so unpredictable. The story development in most anime series is second to none. Anime tends to me more emotional than most (I would even go as far as to say all) american cartoon televised to date. The animation is something that really appeals to me. I live the multi-coloured hair, and big eyes. I also like most disney movies too. In anime character development is so important and I think a lot of series do a good job in displaying that. X the TV series does an excellant job at that. It not only depicts the main characters, and almost all the supporting characters. It seems like its not afraid to go against the grain, and give the series totally unseen ending. Plus its just very entertaining.

Same for me: main reason definitely is the story most of the time. Some of them are often as good as some books or even better, but with cool pictures aswell...
TV series look more and more prefabricated with serial characters and far too much predictable plots/situations: animes propose more 'real' things, even when dealing with science-fiction or fantasy settings and I like that a lot |

When I comes to stories, I think that certain small things about Japanese society encourage a larger range of stories. Some that come to mind are a polythestic religous structure that allows for a greater range of "acceptable" supernatural plotlines, a cultural memory of war on their home turf, a conformist society which doesn't have as many illusions about personal freedom or the integrity of the leaders in charge of said society. I think these and probably a whole lot of small things are that effect Japanese storylines in ways that add to the richness of what we see. All the Best, Nani? |

Initially i would have to say that i anime was appealing to me simply because of its uniqueness. It was something new that i hadnt seen before and like most other new, orginal TV programs it caught my attention. But as i began to watch more i found that the storylines often contained the depth of a novel and the art style was very imaginative. For me anime became like a book; It was as close to real life that any of my favorite science fiction novels could get.
Besides that we cant for get about the action i love action and in anime the action can be magnified to 10 times the magnitude of any real life movie you've seen. In general i think its the fact that anime can portray things in real life but in a more exaggerate form. |

First is who well drawn anime is. compared to most other American cartoons the detail that goes into the dawning of anime is much greater, this gives it a more realistic feel yet while still having characteristics at are of the supernatural or that just plain don't exist. Then with this freedom they come up with thousands of different story which all are well done. The plot is laid out (one thing lacking in most other American show. Where the show I will jump back and forth) and then developed well using different characters or events during the story. This all together makes anime better then anything else that is on TV.

The execitment, the action, the comedy, the drama, the unexpeted, how they defey the laws of nature, phyics and time. I just love it. From the explosutins in Pokemon, to the fights in Ranma 1/2 to Miroku from Inu-Yasha in gneral, to the sadness in cetain parts in Sailor Moon to Ryo-oh-ki in gerneral (The part cat, part rabbit, part spaceship, part human (2nd oav), part giant robot (Tenchi in Tokyo)) from Tenchi Muyo. I just love it.

I watch Japanese cartoons for more or less the same reason I watch American cartoons, and most of the Japanese cartoons I watch are just as episodic as their American counterparts.
Really, I can only answer this question on a series-by-series basis. |
