They stopped airing new episodes after the Kyoto Arc, and removed it from the schedule entirely once Toonami moved to Saturday.
Good riddance, quite frankly. The dubbing was on the poor side and the editing was very severe. Many of the fight scenes were so cut up you could barely tell what happened, and such important events as spoiler[Shishio's death] were cut almost entirely. If you want to see Kenshin, I suggest getting it on DVD. Or reading the manga, as the manga is actually much better than the TV series in more than one area. |

most here in Canada are desperately waiting for this series since right now the only Anime series we have is Inu Yasha which is on reruns until who knows when. Especially seeing how everyone ranks it one of the best ever.

Despite the fact that the manga is infinitely superior, I really hope that YTV airs Rurouni Kenshin sometime. They could air it completely uncut without a hassle, and it would be a hit with the same audience that made Inu-Yasha a bigger success than it was in the US (in terms of scale, anyway).

The problem is that Kenshin premeired on Toonami. Therefore, it can't go to dult swim, as it would belittle the block, though tat's where it should go. It''l probabl return to Toonami eventually.

No one's getting anything over the summer, and we won't have any confirmations for the fall until around August.
While I wouldn't hold my breath on getting anything at all apart from new Inu-Yasha (and probably the first movie, considering how YTV is being flooded with so many demands for it that it's not even funny), I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if YTV licensed one new uncut show to air this fall. And while I'd much, much, much, much, MUCH rather see it air on Teletoon, I have a suspicion that that show would be Gundam SEED. With Teletoon's contract changed to allow more foreign contant at night, chances are higher than ever before for Teletoon picking up some anime this fall, but there's really nothing to indicate that they'd actually be interested in doing so. Just remember to keep using the Suggest-A-Show on their website. Like, everyday. ![]() Also, SPACE might (read, might) be interested in airing Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex sometime soon, but then again, remember that we won't be running out of oxygen anytime soon either. |

I'll second that. Although, I haven't read the manga, this show is still my favorite regardless of whatever minor details were misplaced (though it'd still be some nice reading sometime in the future ![]() And yes, the dubbing is atrocious aside from VERY slightly, the possibility of Kenshin's and Saitou's voices. I give Hayworth some props for just even trying, considering he had to dub over a woman's voice. Saitou had the right mentality in his lines, but his voice just wasn't as deep and convincining as Hirotaka Suzuoki's. As for the edits, you can see how silly they are by going here: animenewsnetwork.com/columns/edit-list.php EDIT: Ah what the heck, I guess I'll criticize a little more on the dub. Kaoru sounds too b**chy in comparison to her original voice (has Meryl's dub voice from Trigun,) which really detracts from how gentle she can actually be at times. I like Dorothy Melendrez doing Meryl's voice, but it just isn't right for Kaoru's character. Sanosuke is probably the worst of them all. In Japanese he of course is a very young, rebellious, wise-cracking, and nonchalant wildman of a punk, which is perfectly portrayed by Yuuji Ueda. Unfortunately, he was dubbed over by the dull and not-so-talented Lex Lang, who in my opinion, sounds WAY too shallow and unemotional for this kind of role. I mean, Sano is 19, right? But in English, he sounds like he's in his late 20s or early 30s. And on top of the hollow tone of voice, he doesn't have that growl and grunt in his voice either, which really makes him a bore to listen to. Yahiko sounds a lot like kid Gohan in the FUNimation dub of DBZ. That is, raspy, annoying, and just plain undisciplined. I don't know what is about dubbing children's voices, but dubs usually never seem to make a lot of them sound young enough. Instead of a 12 year old, he sounds like a 26 year old being strangled with his throat caved in. Megumi isn't too bad, but her dub voice lacks that sense of womanly elegance in comparison to the original. I actually thought it was Wendee Lee at first, but it isn't (it's Jane Allen.) Anyway, I don't think her voice sounds refined enough in English to really give her that title of "cunning fox," which is about half of her character in terms of comedy. Ms. Tae like many other characters with Osakan accents was given a North American southern accent and it's REALLY annoying. It also sounds very fake, but since she's not a major character, it doesn't really matter as much. Shishio is basically Spike's voice from Bebop. The problem is he sounds JUST like Spike. Sure, Shishio's laid back too, but it's more of an evil "I'll make you into my food and take over Japan" kind of evil. As much of a fan as I am of Steven Blum though, this just wasn't a good role for him. Ahh, there's too many for me to do right now, so I'll just leave it at this. And as you can see, I don't like the dub very much. So whenever you watch it, PLEASE do so in Japanese. Last edited by Tony K. on Thu Sep 09, 2004 4:36 pm; edited 1 time in total |

This is a little off topic but oh well... will the Kenshin OVA and/or movies ever be on CN? I wished they finished what they started for the series, good thing there always DVD's and VHS's. The dubbing may not be the best but at least its way better in my opinion compared to the movie and some mediocre series, ugh *shivers*.

I doubt it. ADV has the rights to those, and I don't think they'd want to put any of their properties on Cartoon Network after the failure of Giant Robot Week and the start of The Anime Network. I certainly hope not, as well. The dubbing on Trust & Betrayal is worse than the TV series, and Seishouhen...yeah...it's Seishouhen. Pass. Pass right into the fireplace. |

Honestly, I really enjoyed the dub on Kenshin. I think Nagisa and Tony K. may be a bit on the extreme side of criticism, since they love the series so much. |

Yeah, the only Kenshin dub I can really say I didn't care for was ADV's movie dub (probably becaus I had seen the TV series first), but the TV series and OAV series worked for me.

You guys got Dragonball and Dragonball GT too, and i don't think you can show Kenshin uncut on that kind of station there's way too much violence. Adult Swim in the U.S.A can't show it completely uncut.(they can't show a lot of animes completely uncut) |

You left one out Tony, Aoshi. Although not as bad as Sano's voice, Aoshi's voice just seems wrong in some places to me. His VA just constantly sounds too bored, but maybe that's just me? ~LoneWolf |
