I have a question about licensed Anime DVD's. You know companies like ADV, Bandai, etc. Are all DVD's uncut/original Japanese. Because on some DVD's they clearly say so, but on others I can't really tell. I only like watching subtitled for the most part, but just because it is in Japanese, does it always mean it hasn't been edited or changed in some way from its original showing? Any help would be great! Thanks everyone.

Just because it's in Japanese does not mean that it is always uncut. Companies will 99% of the time inform you wether the show is cut or uncut. Companies like ADV and Bandai do not cut their anime when they release it. So far the only company I can think of that has cut and Uncut are funimation. Also some shows are cut because they use the Japanese tv broadcasts rather then the uncut laserdiscs such as Maze. Also sometimes companies are lazy and use the dub script for the subtitle track. The company that does this the most is Central Park Media. If that happens then the translations tends not to be very accurate. So if you want to know it will normally say. However if you want to know if the translation is right watch the dubbed version with the subtitles if they don't match then you got a good translation. If you do then you got the butchered translation. A great example of good translation is ADV's Kenshin OVA series which has a different dub then the sun which is 10 times better than the dub.
