Two-episode disc = queertastic
Home decor and bedsheets = YAY!
I'm looking forward to certain aspects of this impending media blitz. Pluie soap dispensers and shaved ice machines, anyone?

For anyone who thinks their favorite series is being overmarketed in the US, here's your measuring stick.
2 episode DVDs? 25 DVDs later and you've got the whole series, they better be $10 a pop.

(Edit: Ok, I'm over reacting about that last part, 2 episodes each has been working fine for other mass market shows. Unedited it should be no more than $20 and edited should be no more than $15. This is assuming they do bother versions, but then TokyoPop has been fairly unpredictable lately...)

Having viewed the Japanese airing of this series, here's my two cents on the US premiere:
#1: Tokyopop has developed a significant following with the Rave Master manga. I think they owe it to those fans to try and preserve some sense of continuity between the manga and the anime. Tokyopop has failed to do that here.
#2: The intro theme by Reel Big Fish was a nice touch, but didn't make up for the absolutely awful writing. Admittedly there's a lot going on in the first episode. Compared to the Japanese version, the US version just seems incomplete. The dialog does a poor job of connecting the begining of the episode to the end to give a clear picture of just what went on to the viewer.
I worry about Tokyopop -- it seems like they're more interested in marketing opportunities (what I like to call "pulling a 4kids") than in producing a quality product. The episode that aired last Saturday was bad almost to the point of being embarassing, and if Tokyopop knows better, they'll pull the series and take a serious look at their writing and continuity issues before letting it see the light of day again.

This is cool news! But....what on earth is a "Interactive Calendar"? As for the show itself, I LOVED the songs that played, but....I was kinda dissapointed as I thought for sure the anime would start off like the manga did....

I saw the dub a while back and the opening theme really had me laughing. "AND THERE'S ALSO A DOG WITH A CARROT FOR A NOSE! JOIN THE RAVEOLUTION!". That was followed by someone with the fakest possible mid-80's hair metal British accent shouting about the rave stones and whatnot. Bad. Bad bad bad bad bad. I didn't like Rave Master in the first place and what I saw in that dub managed to be considerably lamer. 2 episodes per DVD is suicide even in the children's video market where DVDs of Spongebob Squarepants frequently have more than 4 episodes each on them.
I anxiously await Plue bath towels, jelly pops and maybe RAVE MASTERS cereal, with little bits of Plue-shaped marshmallow. It's a cereal RAVEOLUTION, people!

The dvds will retail for like 14 bucks, but knowing most retailers out there, they'll probably be less. Initial D dvds retail at 19, but you can get them for 14 bucks at like a Suncoast.
I have no comment on Rave Master cept read the manga, because manga >> anime

The press release doesn't even mention if the DVD are going to have a Japanese language track or not. I seen all 51 episodes and the episode that CN showed last Saturday broke away from the manga in terms of names (Dark Bring = Shadow Stone and Demon Card = Shadow Guard). The English OP and ED are both crap and I even hate the original Japanese ending songs. I pretty much worried about the lack of uncut Japanese version for the anime.

I did NOT enjoy the episode shown on CN. Very disappointing. Everything was pretty much 'kiddyfied.' Yes. I agree with whoever it was that mentioned that Tokyopop is trying to pull a '4Kids' thing.
The opening theme was horrid, the voicing was horrid, the dialogue was horrid, the entire translation was horrid!
And 2 episodes? Heck no! That's like totally milking us for money! I was considering buying the dvds BUT not when, a) It at 2 episodes per disc, and b) It does NOT offer language options. Please, oh please, I pray that the DVDs are unedited and bilingual. Otherwise, forget it!
Sadly, I WILL stick with the show until it's done. I will not be a fan of CN's version of the Anime. I WILL stick by the manga, WHICH TOTALLY ROCKS!!!
On the other hand, merchadise is always cool with me ^^

I knew this would happen from reading the first of the english manga..
Did they hip-hopize the Dub like they did the manga? (I missed the first eppisode on Cartoon Network!)
Eh, the release and treatment of the series is annoying (and now 4kids is going to screw with One Piece!!?? ) however I like the commercialization. I want more RAVE stuff, it's one of my favorite series!

That was a low blow if there ever was one. This has nothing to do with 4Kids...

The dub was alright, but i haven't seen the japanese version yet. Elie's battle scream is gonna get really annoying really fast. It'll be like back in the days of Pokemon (if anyone remembers) when Pikachu would scream at the top of his lungs, "PIIIIIIIIIIIII-KAAAAAAAAAA-CHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" whenever he attacked. I don't think the voices are all that bad. They really don't fit, but they aren't as horrible as Ryu/Rio in the Shaman King anime. The only one i really wasn't fond of was Georcio.
And there was another part that really wasn't necessary *sings* WE'RE THE SHADOW GUARD AND WE'LL BEAT YOU HARD. YOU WILL KNOW OUR SHADOW DOOM! *points to demon card insignia on arm*

Hai, I remember that, back when I was a Poke-fan. I dunno, I kinda like Rio's english voice, I also like his japanese voice, they're both good IMO.
I thought them singing was halarious, it was mediocre singing at it's best/worst.
