I have the first 3 volumes, and from what I can tell they don't seem to be cut at all. It has nudity and gore so it is uncut.

Yeah they are getting released in their original format. Though I can see them editing some stuff later on. It gets pretty dang gruesome.

I dont think they will...most places i go to only sell it to you if your 17 or 18 years old. Though one place i go to lets me buy it because i'm a returning customer for sometime now. And with that i dont think they will edit it because its hard to get your hands on it if your under the purchasing age, in this area. So i dont see them or think they will edit it at all.

Exactly what I was going to say, the later stuff, well I don't see how they can get pass the censorship, I mean if it does, then animes like Kite should as well, along with a whole lot of other stuff. I mean there is what I think is underage sex going on...that's what I think anyway |

if they are gonna censor it, what is the uqse in releasing it anyway, a lot of scenes are gruesome, if you start censoring them, you might aswell stop releasing it because you're gonna screw up the complete storyline.
Berserk isn't exactly a walk in the park you know, the horror and so play their role in all of this |

That does seem to be what a lot of English manga publishers have done int he past I think. And generally a lot of animes and manga has been censored and hence screwing it up. |

Now that I think about it there are alot of mangas now that are really gruesome take Battle Royale for instance, almost can be comparable with berserk (well not really) but battle royale dosen't just contain violent images theres also sexual references in it and in one volume both are combined into one scene which I won't get into but by looking at mangas now Im pretty confident that it won't be. I can only hope because if it is censored that would completely screw up the entire series as you guys have already said. So thanks for your opinions guys

Thinking Dark Horse would censor something is completly ridiculous: They're not Tokyopop, they actually know how to market their comics towards different audiences (SHOCK!!!1). They've never tried to sell Little Annie Fanny or Sin City to the same people who buy Astro Boy, and they've never had to deal with anything resembling Tokyopop's hilarious troubles with publishing the Battle Royale comic. |

Censored *manga*? I can think of a few titles... Pokemon, DB, Ghost in the Shell... ... but really, unless I'm missing something, the list of edited titles pales in comparison to anime edits (some of which might even be deemed 'censorship'..) Where are these "lot of English manga publishers", and what titles did they censor? |

The sex scene was removed from Ghost in the Shell at the request of Masamune Shirow.
And you're right, we shouldn't be using the word censorship. Censorship is when they stop you at the border if you're carrying a copy of Ulysses, not when brief sex and violence are removed. |

Does anyone know if anything was cut from Battle Royale? Pretty sure its uncut though from what i've read so far, and I can't really imagine any more violence from what there is already

the real test will be once it gets around volume 13, but i'm sure that will take years.

It's technically uncut, but Tokyopop "adapted" it instead of doing a straight translation, and the changes are pretty much all for the worse. Viz did a faithful translation of the novel, you should read that instead. Besides, then you get it all at once instead of waiting months between installments. |
