Age Rating Question?

How is the age rating by the Asian, European, or American standards? Because the anime Midori Days is rated: Age rating: Teenagers (May contain bloody violence, bad language, nudity), but it shows bare breasts on a few occasions which in the USA is considered mature or 17 and up. So is that an error or is just a different system?

Age rating questions should be asked in the "Age Rating" thread. It's not stickied, but it is always accessible through the "IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR CONTRIBUTORS" thread, which is at the top of this forum.

As for your question—what's the next step up from "Teenagers" again? Anime smile + sweatdrop

Mature (May contain sex, drugs, and extreme graphic violence), but I'm not sure if thats accurate either because it had neither of those, just the nude breasts, so perhaps the teenager rating should be kept.

Are you sure that bare breasts is considered "mature"? The teenagers rating states "may contain nudity". Correct me if I'm wrong, but if naked breasts are considered "sex", then I can't imagine anything else to be only nudity. Naked belly buttons, maybe?.

The US has always been very puritanical when it comes to nudity (especially compared to violence), but this seems a bit far-fetched to me.

Yea, I think its better to just leave it the way it is. In the US bare breasts are considered sexually explicit so it would be rated mature, but it just doesn't make sense to me, I prefer the Eastern rating system.

Even the age rating of the US DVDs is only 13+. Obviously, a few completely non-sexual scenes with bare breasts aren't considered worth a "mature" rating by anyone, regardless of where in the world they live.

Not many people would seriously consider these kinds of relatively harmless scenes to be "sexually explicit."
