JUMP TO IT. |
For her posting this I take the time to create this thread. It's a racy subject, but there's much more to it than what it seems to be.
KnJ follows the story of a teacher who is put in charge of a third class, following the dismissal of the previous teacher. As time goes on, he finds himself having to deal with a certain problem group within the class, particularly Kokonoe Rin, who likes to flash her panties and make supposedly sexual advances towards him, as well as Kuro Kagami, who can't keep her mouth shut. As we go through the progressive volumes though, the teacher finds how to actually communicate properly with kids of that age, and that sometimes kids need certain needs of attention (and no, I don't mean sexually).
Rin has a dark past, which is hinted a little more to the reader as the story progresses. Kagami also has a hinted interest towards Kokonoe, a reference to a certain CLAMP series that drew about as much controversy as this one has. I think that it is an interesting read, you have to be willing to have an open mind to know what the hell is going on in the story, and read it to the end.

It's a reference to CCS? Hm.
You mention Rin having a dark past, and it has obviously left a prominent impression, shaping her into the girl she is at present, but perhaps more important is the darker past of her guardian (and second cousin once removed?) Reiji. For all of Rin's precociousness, Aoki after not too long develops the communication skills to deal with Rin and her friends without much trouble, and the drama turns towards his feelings for Rin, and how he sees her as potentially a replacement for Aki, who had been his lover and Rin's mother.
Also, you have issues with Kuro trying to come to terms with having feelings for another girl, and Sae Shirai, another teacher at the school, trying to cope with what society and her parents expect from her while trying to live a life she herself can be satisfied with. Then, of course, there is also Kyoko Houin, who is romantically interested in Aoki, but has difficulty making him realize it.

If there's one thing KnJ isn't, it's a fresh topic.
Between the manga, talkback and anime boards, it must have been discussed a dozen times already.
