"Using full-color digital images freeze-framed into action-packed spreads and peppered with manga-style word balloons and captions, each book highlights the career of a different player."

Sports Manga. YES! I don't know why I find this funny, but I do. Really the only "manga" thing about this is the "manga-styled" word balloons? I had no idea that manga had its own style of word balloons.

The scary part is that it's only a matter of time. Shocked

This has to be some of the most unexpected promotions I've ever seen. Talk about strange bedfellows.

(Average otaku) OMFG! Manga's becoming popular and mainstream! Now it might attract people who can't appreciate the subtle nuances of DBZ and I won't be special anymore for liking it.

Yeah, there's a thread about the Shounen Jump/Dr. Pepper thing in the manga forum. I know you're just itching to argue how soda pop will overshadow those subtle nuances of DBZ.

Heh... you know how it is... if you drink all that caffine, you will read through the manga too quickly to absorb just how deep the storyline is to DBZ. Smile

Remember, DBZ is technically ultra porn and you must be 60 years old to watch it, like everyone in Japan. It's rife with hardcore sex scenes and brutal ultra-violence, and then there's the PROPER Japanese DVD version, which of course is even worse and comes with English subtitles and and "accurate" dub with ALL THE ORIGINAL SWEARING ANDTOEI SEND THEM TO YOU FOR FREE (I won't tell you because your mind will oexplode from only one episode). EVERY EPISODE is 45 Minutes long. THERE ARE TWO HUNDRED MOVIES AND A THOUSAND TV SPECIALS, AND DONT EVEN GET ON ME ABOUT THE "REAL" GT OR THE NEW AF SERIES.

I SPEAK THE TRUTH BECAUSE I AM GEN FUKUNAGA ON THE INTERNET THANK YOU.

Yeah and EigoManga is hooking up with MTV

we need an editorial on this, so many highly comercial moves on the part of the companies, good or bad? Is Toren Smith right?

Viz and Dr. Pepper, now Tokyopop and NBA. Hmm, next it's Pepsi and Geneon with Ryoko Mt. Dew cans, ADV parterns with Hasbro to make Hyatt with dying action. Anime/Manga going mainstream is good and all, but the NBA isn't the first thing comes to mind outside of just sports anime/manga, but props to them for thinking of it.

So, we gonna see another "Wardrobe Malfunction" worked into it somehow?

As scary as that sounds, and I hate Britney Spears, I can actually see that working.

Shame MTV has been forbidden to do another superbowl half time show for the rest of eternity.

Britney is currently touring the UK , as she's turned into Madona's bitch in chains over here. She is doing everything Madonan tells her to, which includes girating on stage with virtually nothing on but a few ribbons and tassels. The girl is a complete Madona tart now and is allegedly buying a house in Wiltshire to be nearer to Madona who lives there too. Must have been that kiss. Now Britney wants more. Rolling Eyes

An old "Big Format" Copy of Ceres #1 bets that Britney does a S&M book by 2005 similar to Madonna's "Sex" book.
