I know a couple kids that broke something on a trampoline.
Also, Princess 69 had gymnastics. |

I'd figure you'd go into the obvious stuff like PoT and Slam Dunk, even though the latter will never get a decent release here.

Don't forget about Kaleido Star - that had some gymnastics in it!
Other sports anime not mentioned here include: - Ookiku Furikabutte (Baseball) - Princess Nine (Baseball) - Touch (Baseball) - Slam Dunk (Basketball) - The Prince Of Tennis (Tennis) |

The only gymnastics anime I know is Hikari no Densetsu, some nice 80's stuff from back then, which wasn't that bad at all if I remember correctly.
And, of course, Princess 69, already mentioned by bleuster, which forbids every expression of an opinion. |

When I think rhythmic gymnastics, I think Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne.

I'm wondering where fencing is in this article.
Utena, anyone? C'mon, where's the love for shows with expired licenses? Also, Touch features both baseball AND rhytmic gymnastics. |

YAWARA!'s on local TV right now. Today's episode had Yawara winning the All-Japan tournament. Next stop, Barcelona!

Why has Boxing -> Fighting Spirit been forgotten here?

Well, Makie Sasaki of Negima is a rhythm gymnist, and she displayed her skills several times in the anime. That's the only one I can think of at this time. And KimiNozo (Rumbling Hearts) also featured swimming - Mitsuki Hayase and Akane Suzumiya were Olympic-level swimmers. Last edited by bci110 on Mon Aug 11, 2008 7:37 am; edited 1 time in total |

Sports anime is something I'll avoid, unless (like in Kanon/KimiNozo) the sporting element is restricted to a single character instead of dominating the series' plot. Drama revolving around characters' capability to physically outperform others seems not to move me.
True. Just don't expect the same quality in four years' time. |

When I think "Equestrian Sports," I think Code Geass. I almost dropped the series in the third episode becuase of the crappy high school angle. All through the previous episode, we see Lelouche being totally awesome, like a paramilitary Light Yagami. Then, he's getting yelled at by screechy teens who are afraid that the Equestrian Club will get mad at them for something. You know, those guys in the Equestrian Club are total badasses. Don't want to get on THEIR bad sides.
I turned it off right there. Then I tried again and turned it off again about ten seconds later when breast sizes were mentioned (because two girls can't POSSIBLY talk about anything else in an anime). It took a third try to get through it, but that high school crap is easily the worst part of the show. Did they think anyone wanted to see a badass war prodigy with mind control powers go to goddamn school!? That only works if your name is Sosuke Sagara, and Lelouche is NO Sosuke Sagara. |
