I've been wondering why there seem to be only male chevaliers in Blood+....Do you think it's possible for a female one to exist?
And do you think there could even be the slightest chance that there could be a pair of twin kings instead of queens?

Chiropterans seems to be vaguely modeled after an insect social structure, which means chevaliers = workers (i.e. all male) and bosses = queens, who have to be female to be progenitors.

I don't know where you got that from but I should note
In most insect social structures (bees, Wasps, Ants, Hornets) the majority of the population is female and males are produced very rarely (only for reproduction proposes).

actually queen= fertile female, worker= infertile female, and drone= useless male lives only for reproduction then dies or is run off. well this is for bee's at any rate. of course the creation of chevaliers is by means of ingested queens blood so who can say?

I think the Chevaliers are male only because Saya and Diva are heterosexual. Preference in other words is key. Regular Chiropterans can be both genders so I think it's just a matter of tastes involved than any biological factors.
I think biological factors are only really important with regards to the creation of queens. Only twins seem to be produced and only the Chevaliers of the opposite queen can mate with a queen to produce offspring. (Another two queens.) It's an odd structure to say the least.
Also, given how powerful Chevalier are, and their importance to producing new queens, they could be considered kings once they've mated with a queen to produce new queens. I mean, they're a lot more dangerous than the queens.
A question I was left with is what exactly are the queen powers? Diva could sing and manipulate lower-level Chiropterans and both their blood could kill the opposing one's Chevaliers and "drones" but were there other abilities?
And why was Saya so sleepy and Diva wasn't? Just slightly different wake up times or did pregnancy alter the sleep cycle for Diva?

I got the impression it was because Diva was feeding properly, while Saya wasn't - one of the bigger advantages for Team Diva.

Actually, I think Saya was sleepy because it was getting close to her hibernation time. Diva woke up a little later than Saya.
