If I should have put this in the earlier topic, my bad, but

According to one of the manager's at my local FYE, this Sunday (4/27/08), FYE is having a buy anything anime get another one free.

As a side note; quite honestly I'm not sure if this applies to all FYEs, because history has shown that my FYE doesn't always follow the others. So does this help anyone? I can't say for sure.

I know the FYE at the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua, NH is having the sale, but then I went down to the Burlington Mall in Burlington, MA the same day and asked and they didn't seem to know anything about a sale. They also didn't have any of the flyers up that the Nashua mall did announcing a Cosplay Contest, Giveaways, and the sale. So it sounds like it's a store-by-store decision at the very least.

That really helps explain why I get screwed when most other stores had a 'buy one get one free' sale on Funimation titles. My store started the sale a few weeks prior so when I got wind of it...bah. One really has to question why the store-by-store basis though. Actually, I suppose some stores can benefit more by having sales while maybe others make enough as is. Doesn't change the fact that it's annoying.

I heard about that Funimation sale, but neither of those two FYE store I mentioned above had any signs in the stores mentioning it. So either we didn't get the Funi sale over here either, or else it was a top-secret sale you could only get if you asked about it. I didn't bother asking, since I had just recently bought all the Funi titles I've been interested in during TRSI's last 40% off sale.

Heya! Yeah, I shop the Nashua and Burlington malls for a lot of my immediate anime needs when I don't want to wait for an online order. Today I stopped in to Nashua to grab that Karin art box that's been sitting there for a while.

As to your question about this weekend-
Easy answer- "Yes" Complicated answer- "Sort of."

Unfortunately I'm scheduled that day for work, so right now my best case scenario looks like I'll ask my boss if I can come in an hour late which shouldn't be a problem, so I have time to get there when the store opens at 11, grab my loot, and then get out by 12 to get back home to get ready for work. So if you get to the store and all the good stuff is sold out, sorry about that Very Happy Looks like I'll be missing out on the giveaways and cosplay contest though, which kinda sucks since someone I know will be participating in it. I can never pass up a sale.

The FYE in Salem NH at the Rockingham Mall is having the buy 1 get 1 free on 4/27 as well. The have a nice selection of anime there too.

How is the selection in Nashua?

Of the 3 FYEs I frequent, the Nashua one has the best selection. Especially for boxed sets and art boxes. I've gotten some good finds there, and was surprised to find they still had most of the Fate/Stay Night dvds. (They only have Volume 1 now, I bought the rest Very Happy) The one thing I didn't check last time I was there was whether or not they had any Kashimashi dvds. Burlington had # 1 & 2 for $20 each, but they aren't having the BOGO as far as I know. I'd say it's worth checking out the Pheasant Lane mall though if you're ever in the area.

like bluebeard said, i'd say it's worth checking out. there's also a bestbuy up the street from the mall that has a relatively large anime selection.

No it doesn't, because my FYE has had buy one get one free from FUNimation and Geneon all week.

I was hoping someone else would post this so I wouldn't have to, but in the interest of retaining accurate news of past events on this forum, in the end it turned out that there was no anime sale whatsoever anywhere on 4/27/08. Probably for the first time since FYE/Suncoast stores started their anime gathering days, there was no special sales on that day. There were only the various anime sales (none too good except the Funimation one) from earlier. The huge anime sale turned out to be a myth which was caused by an ambiguously worded event flyer which tricked many customers and even some store employees.
