I wonder if he has any sort of permission to use any of these characters in his political campaign?

Yeah, well, it took over 10 years for Tranzor Z to be released in English, so it seemed pretty hokey by then - and people had begun to see many other robot anime from Japan by this time since the anime industry was just beginning to get its groundswell of fans in the US and many VHS and Beta tapes were being shipped here, as well as the fan magazines. That's why Mazinger Z did not do well in the US when it was released. If it had been released back in the early 1970's when the series first came out, it would have been better received.

Tranzor Z was a really really bad dub anyway. I saw some clips of it on Youtube and it sounded much more like an amateur fandub than a professional one.
I also would love to see Mazinger get released here completely uncut as well as Great Mazinger and UFO Robot Grendizer. However, the chances of that happening are next to nothing due to perpetual agreements surrounding the shows back then. |

His zone is not competitive enough for a rival candidate to bother. With another candidate being the current seat holder with KMT backing, I honestly don't think Liu has much chance. |

A belated update: for those who want to hear the dubbed opening theme, click or save the top link on this page.
The song was performed by a children choir and was kind of noisy, but it was also one of the most recognized song among Taiwanese in their mid-30s. |
