I'd like to get a feel for how people like the little layout change I made. In the list of topics I changed the "Last Post" column to display the time since the last post instead of the time of the last post.
Sure, it's a really minor change, but many small things build up to a bigger thing... like a better user experience. And I see no reason to keep democracy from running rampant!

In the last post column instead of:
January 7, 2004 12:34pm
username
it now says:
22.18 hours ago
username

It's pointless. It's only on the main page. The layout should stay consistent thoughout the forum. My opinion at least.

Umm, it is done throughtout the forum and not just the main page. The only place it is still the long time and date is on the actual post itself.

You're right.
I usually just use the search for new posts feature and it doesn't show up there.

Currently i prefer the old way only because now i have to think to figure out if 19.5 hours ago means last night or early this morning... yes, i'm lazy like that
Also, it would be nice if this new option could be turned on or off (like the threaded/flat view).

I voted for bring back the old layout. I picked it for two reasons. One was because I'm a creature of habit, and two was because I like to see when something was posted if I'm gone for a couple of days...I don't know why, but I do.

I like it the new way. It lets me know, at a glance, how fresh the topic is.

I'm not picky. Whether it's the old way or the new, either way is fine with me. But I voted on the new one anyway.

I like it, since I think in terms of quick and often-metric decimals. I can see where some wouldn't like it, (the suggestion of the on/off toggle could come into play) but I give it the positive vote.

I don't really care for the whole 2.1424 minutes go style. I think a switch button like with the thread views would be great for thos who like the new way, and for those who like the old style.

I guess the 28 votes made the decision...unless there is a button to switch it...which I'm hoping for...it was a lot easier for me to see time since rather than last time...

I'll admit that i was getting used to the new change. Actually, it would be nice if there was someway to display both without making it too crowded. But if that can't be done, then an option to switch from one to the other would be nice.
So if you want, you can count this as a change of vote for the new look.
***EDIT***
Also, one reason why i like the time since last post was because it always worked even if you weren't logged in. However, when the time of the day is displayed and you aren't logged in, the time is always wrong unless you happen to live in the right time zone.
