This is getting annoying. Seems that not airing anime will fix all of Japans problems Rolling Eyes

Well, the episode in question will be hitting the US on DVD simultaneously with the Japanese release, so you'll get to see it as quickly as they will.

I don't really mind the waiting, even if it was a month. I just don't get it, how is not shoing an episode helping with anything? Are they canceling EVERYTHING that deals with the subject, or just anime?

It looks (again) like the broadcasters are taking the easy way out and sweeping this issue 'under the rug'. Why now? This has been a recurrent anime theme reflecting societal problems in the last few years (we can all recall several series which would fit) but it seems too convenient to just turn away from the issue and just derail certain shows because the content is too 'uncomfortable'.

I have (so far) enjoyed Shigofumi mostly because it surprises me with every episode and isn't afraid to take on "controversial" or "uncomfortable" topics head-on.

Bipolar Disorder

Recent research done in Japan indicates a hypothesis of dysfunctional mitochondria in the brain (Stork & Renshaw, 2005).

It is common to see a lot of self paranoia and censure in Japanese society. They attribute any problem they have at large on media and easily identifiable people and things. It's not that anime is bad, or that people at the top probably even believe it; it's merely the fact that they all refuse to admit to the fact that the youth of Japan today are very disturbed.

We've seen this time and time again. School Days wasn't the first case. Earlier in 2000, video games came under severe fire when Japanese officials cited that Microsoft Flight Simulator helped create delusions that an average joe could steal a Boeing 747. So what I see here is just another bout of finger pointing, it's got no basis beyond making the men in suits feel a bit happier about what they did "for" their people.

I think they aired episode 3 because it had a major plot thing at the end of it, and episode 6 might not. Just a theory

Well the article says that it's just the one network pulling it and that another network is showing it, so we'll probably still get to see it via fansubs as well. I've just made it a point to not buy this series based on the insane price for just one episode........ Or at least not until there comes much cheaper means of buying it that is, and even then I'm not sure I like this series enough to actually buy it, but that's still a decision in progress.

Well I know when a TV series here in America explores certain questionable issues in an episode they usually air some kind of PSA after the episode saying something along the lines of "Today's episode talked about so-and-so issue" and then gives them information on what to do in that situation in real life and whatnot. Couldn't Japanese TV just do the same thing instead of pulling episodes? Just a thought really.

I am hoping that nothing is altered from what was originally intended with the American release of this... Now I am actually rooting for Bandai to come out with this... Should be good...

Americans can't talk. After 9/11 they took the twin towers out of everything. They stopped running a spider-man trailer that had it, they even CGI'd it out of movies.

Nothing too shocking here. If another Columbine happened, you can bet that any drama that was going to have something about a school shooting wouldn't run that week, or that episode wouldn't run at least.

They understandably aren't showing the episode,in light of what's happening. When anything hits close to home,it becomes a touchy subject. Some honor it some don't.I just finished Episode 5,so I'm waiting for this as well.

As with all censorship in anime deals, just be glad they arn't puting stupid censor-image crap over the offending scene.

Can't begin to tell you how many otherwise great anime was ruined by such nonsence.
To reiterate; white/black FoTNS blood ok, Censor-crow bad.
Nice boat somewhere in the middle.
