I can't wait for this to be released. After hearing so many recommendations for it, I finally saw it last year and I absolutely loved it. It's easy to enjoy it for purely entertainment purposes, but when you really try to analyze the three vignettes and tie them together, it's truly a work of art.

It took me a while to like Stink Bomb, but I realized that it was a satire on Japanese society, which was why it was tougher to appreciate on its own. Anyway, I actually saw someone who cosplayed the Spanish diva in the first segment who was a dead ringer for the character.

I just don't think it was worth the 7 digits they were rumoured to be asking for it. It is indeed quite excellent but it lacks the ability to bring in money like Spirited Away or some other Miyazaki film could. No one could make a good profit off of it without it going to theaters and in this country a movie like that just wont bring in the big money in the theaters. Great movie, but it should have been here 5 years ago.

I think that's part of why they charged more. (Although it did better in Japan than GITS.) P.S. AOD has March 24, but Feb. 24 is the date on Sony's site.

I didn't like Stink Bomb while I was watching it, but afterward when I thought about the entire product, it all really clicked in. I absolutely love Cannon Fodder though. I think the message really links everyhting together. Yeah, I've seen a girl do the Magnetic Rose chick as well who actually went through the pains of hand-sewing on all the beads for her dress. (Nan Desu Kan?)

Oh yeah, I remember when she was wearing that dress. It was really outstanding. ^_^

2002 IIRC, and she wasn't able to get in on time for entry for the cosplay contest, but was well recognized for her efforts nonetheless...

I'm looking forward to the DVD as well.

She might've been at Nan Desu Kan, but I saw her at AX.

Yes, it was 2002. She did enter the masquerade though, because I remember seeing her on stage.

Well, yes she was invited by (IIRC M.C.'s name was Kelly?) to come up on stage, but Laura had missed the deadline entry to participate in the contest itself, which is why she was last up there - she got no prizes for it at all. It's just that it was so well done, everybody ooh'ed and ahh'ed over it.

Although she's only an aquaintance for me (much closer with a friend of mine), I remember her talking about it. (and if I'm not mistaken, I have it on tape too.)
