*tears up*
That's sad. It's honorable to help find the killer with the power of manga. Will it work is the question though. |

It's nice to see manga not link negatively to a story like this.

Mr. Stab-happy's toast. He's now got about a hundred wannabe L's on his case.
I'm sorry, I probably shouldn't be joking. But I'm sure this will make an interesting movie a few years down the line. Better if they actually manage to catch the killer this way... |

Manga and Anime - hidden within is the power to change the world!
Well, at least I believe that... I certainly hope this does pan out and they find who the killer is. |

You're an idiot. Your comment is tasteless and out of line. |

Do you think an English translation will ever appear?

Aww, this is really bittersweet. I hope they succeed, and it's so tragic that this guy died so young, before being able to reach for his dreams.
That said, I also don't really know if this will make a difference at all. I suppose some KEY WITNESS might see this pamphlet, but what's the chances? I'm sure the police have already done all humanly possible. |

while a bit crude, what he/she is saying is essentially correct. if this gets enough attention, every armchair detective in the area is gonna be analyazing and re-analyzing every aspect of the case, which could lead to actual information. i'm sure this is why they chose manga format in the first place. |

He was insulting the guy who did the stabbing, not the one who was stabbed. He gave a nickname "Mr. Stab-happy", but I don't see why that's insulting to the victim here? I suppose my ire is just not raised as easily.

If this works maybe they could draw one to catch the killer of that young British English teacher earlier this year. Japanese police seem bloody hopeless when it comes to solving crimes like this if they have to rely on a manga.

I don't see how his comment is out of line either. Do you have any way to back up what you said? I think this is a step towards what the major faculty and the students know best, and it will get people's attention. |

I doubt it will take long. As for the manga itself, if it helps catch the killer, great. If not, then at least it was worth a try. I just really hope the killer is brought to justice somehow. |

I think it's really up in the air as to whether this will really work or not, but the idea is still a rather sweet tribute to his life.
I'd like to know more about the details of the crime... Was it a mugging/robbery or just a random murder? Was it just someone who hated him? At this point I can't even see the motive behind such an attack... I thought BellosTheMighty's comment was fine as well. |

So is your's stagedive.... All you did in that post was call him an idiot. You offered absolutly no value to the subject at hand. So the comment you made makes even more sense directed at yourself. Anyway, it's true. Now they're gonna have people not even directly involved trying to solve it as though they were trying to beat Horatio to the conclusion on CSI Miami. I really hope this works, especially since manga will finally get a better reputation out there, and also because I hate it when murderers get away clean. GO MANGA POWER GO!!! |

Matt Thorn, who used to translate many manga titles in the 1990s for Viz, is actually an associate professor at the Faculty of Manga that created this manga. Still, he and the rest of the faculty may have to weigh whether the time and effort needed to translate the manga into English might be spent spreading the word in Japanese instead; potential leads eleven months after the incident might more likely come from native speakers. It's a tough call. |
