I'm hugely surprised no one mentioned this one... Rahxephon!

While it's not the standard shoujo that typically springs to mind when bringing up romance anime, the series at its core is the story of a deep and abiding love that time, space, and worlds can't destroy. In my mind, this is probably the most romantic of all anime.

Oh, We'll wait for that and hope it'll happen soon., Genre searching wouldn't be so hard if implemented. I expect people recommending on these in the future.

People would most wanted to watch some animé that are promising and not some of cliché ones that's why I would like to have a recommendation which is more on comedy & romance genre.

Added up to my list is Mahoraba ~Heartful days~ (TV), it has some scenes that are promising for the viewers and have the tendency to watch more of it. Comedy scenes are totally funny and characters are more put up in a role some endowment. Particularly this is an anime that surely beloved by anyone, even little children would be happy 'cause it's so cute.

Next is Shuffle!Watch and you'll see, beware the age rating of course. I love its total complexity of this romance and comedy genre, totally it's not a disappointment because of its Drama genre, it happen to be a drama then surely you'll love the chemistry between the three genre. If I have the chance to pick all the girls on this series then I would be happy to, Tomokazu Sugita is the seiyuu of Rin Tsuchimi a male protagonist on this story, a Sugita fan shouldn't miss these series. I like the resemblance of each characters and totally given up their out most personality which more of likely a game of love and hate.

Tokimeki Memorial ~Only Love~ Another Comedy & Romance genre that older children would totally have fun watching this, it has great introduction by any means it's original, people watching these would like the story plot of these series, this is a more likely of a game. A medium series such as like this are promising to watch, it resembles of all the dating games I've played and still enthralled of it. Care for re-watching some of this, there are slight cliché but overall it was good and funny.

Kanon was absolutely rewarding. Although the "real" romance aspects aren't shown until episode 18, the emotional bonds you feel between the characters is incredible. The ending itself was quite surprising (if you've never played the game) and just provides, raw, optimistic emotion. You will cry throughout the series, but the ending itself will make up for all the angst. I still feel fluffy inside after watching it -_-.

-To Heart: totally forgot a lot of the details on this... >.>

-Love Hina Tv series & Movies: It's a classic formula, stick one under achiever male and surround him with interesting females. Let the love triangles begin!

-Full Metal Panic, Full Metal Panic Fumoffu, Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid: The Full Metal Panic series overall isn't much of a Romance exactly, but the undertones between some of the character's attraction towards each other are obvious.

-Fushigi Yuugi: It's a classic too! I'm sure a lot of people got sick hearing Tamahome and Miaka utter each other's names over and over. But it's the traditional fairy tale of living the dream... what else is better than traveling into a book and finding the man of your dreams?

-Kanon & Kanon 2006: I just simply love how the story is told from the main guy's point of view... in revisiting a town in which he's been living when younger to return to see a lot of his older female friends to be a lot older... especially his childhood friend.

-Record of Lodoss Wars: Not a true romance anime as well... but each of the characters have their romantic love interests. It's quite interesting to see not all love are shown with mushy feelings...

-Saikano: Ah a classic what if sort of scenario... where the girl tries her hardest to become something for someone and hopes she's acceptable...

-Suzuka: This is perhaps the most down to earth college romance Anime I recommend. There's a lot of high school romance animes out there so it was nice to see an older slightly more mature handling of the characters and what they do for college life.

-Karin aka Chibi Vampire: an interesting series... I've not watched too many episodes of it just yet, but I can tell it has quite an interesting setup.

-Fate Stay Night: Another not exactly a romance anime but has a several characters including the main characters to have quite an attraction to each other.

-Ah My Goddess: the classic anime of Keiichi Morisato wish for a Goddess like Belldandy line... is a very sweet although at times not so down to earth...

-Video Girl Ai: Masakazu Katsura's stories have always been my favorite for they are very down to earth. Sadly the OAV doesn't do the manga justice. Besides his stories, his artwork really stands out.

-Chobits: Ah classic: "Chii" Highly recommend any fan of CLAMP as well as any male who enjoys the concept of an alternative female companion than the traditional human female.

-DearS: I found this quite charming and sweet. Aliens and humans co-existing...

-Midori no Hibi: Ah.. who doesn't understand the joke "guy's right hand is his girlfriend?" This sweet anime/manga title literally turns the male's main character right hand into a female... yeah it's odd... but it works!

-I''s Pure: The anime adaptation to the manga... sadly again it doesn't do the manga justice. This short OAV though does give insight to how the voices sound for the characters in the manga...

-Kimagure Orange Road: Classic! =P who hasn't been introduced to Madoka Ayukawa & Kyosuke Kasuga... the songs in this anime series are very soothing to listen to at times... the piano version of Kyosuke No.1 still brings tears to my eyes...

-Ranma 1/2: another classic! Ranma just can't have enough fiancees... no thanks to his father. But... comedy ensues in all imaginable things!

-Hanaukyo Maid Tai: La Verite: Ah the budding romance between a maid and her master. Or just running a mansion/harem of maids is perhaps a very common male fantasy... but the way the story is told is very sweet.

-Onegai Twins: the story of two twins, who think one or the other is related to the male twin? It's been so awhile since I've watch this one and it's a bit blurry to recall... but yeah... interesting to find out who is who...

-Ragnarok the Animation: Based off the MMO Ragnarok Online. It tells the story of a swordman named Roan and his traveling buddy/parnter/childhood friend/annoying brat at times Acolyte Yufa... and their adventures through the various places within the game world of Ragnarok Online.

-Tsukuyomi Moon Phase: a very funny vampire who's very annoying at times but is cute with her neko mimi... and how she insists that this one guy has to be her mate!

I know the summaries are perhaps vague, so I recommend to always check around online to see the in depth synopsis behind these anime titles.

Is it because its Shojo? I have watched this series and rated this as a so-so, I kinda like the characters here but not the story, another reason is that this is shojo.

Ken Akamatsu's Love Hina is one of the best harems I've ever watched, although some parts were cliche and totally cliche but it happens to be a an another great harem series Akamatsu made, there are many funny parts of this story, and overall it's excellent.

I wouldn't rate this if this isn't a KyoAni production. I didn't thought somebody would recommend this anime as a romantic genre. This is a military sci-fi genre and added violence.

I see you point here but by looking on some parts of these series and by looking on the genre again makes me think, We are concerned on direct genre here. Wink

Our language dub freaks me out 'cause I don't feel our language. it's like a feeling, 'that a dubber using our language shouldn't dub this anime 'cause it'll give or they'll disrepute on the anime especially if it's a romance anime'.
This is a good romance anime and should not be missed out. I love this series in RAW.

I've watched the original and also the re-make, the original kinda sucks because some parts of the anime are not followed in manga but it has many funny parts unlike the re-make it has totally enough sense and this is a great ecchi and romantic harem series, not to mention that Rie Tanaka is the seiyuu for Mariel.

I actually looked on some DVD's of these on some stores here but I couldn't find any. So, what I've looked and I have found out and alternate and these are pirates, bootlegs totally freaks me out so I did the easy way, it's not in HQ it's fun to watch, thanks to that I finished this two days.

Yeah, and check especially the genre. Some anime are quite an off the recommendation, also popular series are already seen by many, so I didn't put up in my reply quotes.

Not the story did amazed me but the anime production itself is a winner. To think Air would be as different on the anime and the game.

No wonder it's now in ANN's top Best Rated anime since it is on its opening episodes.

I feel totally depressed and you said few comedies? comedies are cliche and there are a LOT of ecchiness and it's like watching a cut porn in this series.

I'm not a really big fan of romance anime since I'm more into the action genre. I hardly get pleased by the "love love" theme. But once in a while I come across good romance anime that had captivated me and made my heart flutter.

Honey and Clover-This is a heartwarming series that focuses on the love angles of five good friends. What I like most about this series is it never fails to make me laugh and make my heart cry.

Bokura Ga Ita-This is a series that I can somehow relate to since the plot is very realistic.

Fushigi Yugi-I love the way fantasy and romance were combined to produce such a great anime.

There's been some really interesting recommendations here, including a fair number that I wouldn't even call "romance" really (Welcome to the NHK? Really? Anime dazed).

I'd consider Welcome to the NHK a Romance anime, spoiler[ they both liked each other & needed each other , they were just taking it slow]. People always want an ending to a series when all it really is is just a short segiment of their lives.

Agreed. I feel that any anime with a love story at the center of the plot is considered romance. Welcome to the NHK is no exception, even if the romance is downplayed a little bit. It's certainly not the standard romance, but it doesn't have to be so to qualify.

I will agree with Kruszer, Theron and many regulars here with the Rumbling Hearts suggestion. I think the best thing about this triangle is that fans seem really split in which girl is the "right" one. Usually in love triangles you find one of the girls/guys is the one fans flock to, and the other is a whiny $#@$. As far as Rumbling Hearts go I have seen people defend both Haruka and Mitsuki. I for one am 100% for Mitsuki, but I've seen others here think she is completely evil.

The other show which I really love is Diamond Daydreams. Although this is an anthology series and there are a couple of stories where romance isn't central it does romance better than most romance shows. Despite all 3 volumes being reviewed here and Zalis' constant praise this series seems to remain obscure to general fandom. This is a series that was based off a dating game, yet due to the missing male lead has made a nice shift away from many trappings of ero/dating game based shows. This is an amazing series that I highly recommend to any drama fan, especially since you can find all three DVDs for cheap online.

I am gonna say Bokura ga Ita. I think that it can only be defined as a romance. It's awesome how the story goes through the entire evolution of the relationship between Nanami and Yano, spoiler[ including the first time they meet, love rivalries, overcoming past loves, and their eventual seperation]. Not only was the artistry beautiful and refreshing when I watched it, I thought that it was written well. It thuroughly portrayed the characters as characters the audience could relate to. Nanami's search for her true feelings for Yano is heart wrenching and emoitonal and really draws you into her world spoiler[because at the same time she is not only trying to consolidate her own love life, but also trying to help Yano get over his issues with lack of trust and the death of his ex-girlfriend]. When I first watched it, it was almost like when you remember the first person you fell in love with years ago... We also get to see the struggles of the sub-characters like Takaeuchi-kun and Yamamoto spoiler[and their difficult attempts to gain the attention of Nanami and Yano respectively because of their one sided loves, even though it ends without their attempts bearing any fruit ]. I think everyone should give this a try if they are a fan of romance.

i haven't watched too many romance, so my selection may be limited
first i'd recommend Love Hina a typical harem type romance anime, but it's somewhat different that most of the girls that end up liking Keitaro (main character) initially don't like him, or even hate him, kind of obvious who he'll end up, but it's a fun journey to see what happens

another is Chobits, i loved that it seemed to start off as another harem, but is way different, kind of threw me for a loop a couple times, and a touching theme of the pursuit of perfection, and that that can never be attained
