I have the first volume of it, and I thought it was OK, I might get the other volumes to see if it gets any better, but I actually like MAR better than Death Note. Does it get exciting after the first volume?

It starts to slow down after volume 4 in my opinion. I still loved it, but I felt that some of the pazzah just left the series after a plot twist at the end of volume 4 and then another huge plot twist shortly after. Volume 12 was worth it though. Amazing.

I'd say that if you don't really like it after volume 1 you probably won't like the rest of it, since IMO the beginning of the series is when it is at its best and it really does go downhill later on...I am one of the people who quit at volume 7 because after that I really didn't care.

The point where I became addicted to the series was around vol. 3 which made me order the other available volumes, after vol. 8 it kinda goes downhill, especially if you didn't like the new addition to the cast, but DN had one of the best endings IMO and it worth sticking with it just to view it.

But if the premise didn't interest you that much, then I say focus on collecting the series that you currently like and then check vol. 2 to see if the series is going to worth your time and money.

i don't know how people can stop after volume 7. Well, unless they already know what will happen.

For a lot of people, it's just not interesting anymore. My main reason for finding it this way was that everything seemed very convoluted and contrived.

If you enjoy it less than MAR, theres really nothing to be done.
