Has anyone ever seen an anime series called Cat's Eye? The first episode of it was included as a bonus on a fansubbed video I just received.
It was pretty good and all, but I really don't know anything about it. From the first episode, I have gathered that the story revolves around the exploits of a trio of expert female theives who call themselves Cat's Eye, after the restaurant where they work by day. (Unbeknownst to the police.) I have also gathered that they are committing the robberies in order to recover artifacts that once belonged to their father so they can solve the mystery of his disappearance. And from the look of the animation, I would guess that the series is of the mid-70s to early-80s vintage. And that's pretty much all I know series-wise. Can anyone tell me anything more about it? How long is the series? Was it made for TV, or OAV? Just how old is it? Were any movies or additional series made? Is it a very popular series? Were any big-name seiyuu or production staff involved in its creation? Has anyone licensed it? Basically, I'd greatly appreciate just about any information on the series in general that people are willing to share. Thanks in advance!

All I know is it's from the City Hunter creator. Helen McCarthy has a summary of it in her Anime Encyclopedia.

I have never heard of this one before, but thanks to our friends a www.anipike.com I have found this out.
Check out this link "Cat's Eye is a manga by Tsukasa Hojo. The pilot episode was published on "Shonen Jump" in 1981, followed by 18 volumes from 1981 to 1984, and an additional short appearance in 1985. " "Loosely based on Hojo's manga, Tokyo Movie Shinsha (TMS) and Nippon Television produced an anime series in 1983/84, with 36 and 37 episodes respectively" Apparently there was also a live action movie and live action TV special. |

That Cat's Eye manga is available in French and appears to be reasonably popular. I personally haven't read it though. I've always considered picking up a copy.
