Well there is a little difference like the manga explains more about Ichigo's mom. I would recommend the manga since it is good and enjoyable to read and start from the begining. Also it may just be me but the Soul Society arc is more fun in the manga then in the anime.

Well, the most obvious difference is the lack of the filler Bount arc. Also, the story line in the manga goes into a bit more detail with things. This is mainly due to TVs censorship laws, and so all the battles are far less bloody than they should and such. Plus, the manga is miles upon miles ahead of the anime.

I would DEFINITELY say that, if you are a Bleach fan, you MUST read the manga.

Yes, please do read the manga but I probably won't recommend you reading too far ahead. I was like on Chapter 241 in the manga and still on episode 28. Otherwise you'll feek si bored watching the anime. Also it's nice to compare the manga and anime so you would have some stuff to talk about with your friends.

My opinion: If you've seen one, you've seen both. The manga goes a little more into the Fisher King bit, but I recall the anime having more flashbacks on some of the shinigami during the Soul Society arc. If you liked one, you'll like the other; just be prepared to watch scenes repeated almost exactly as you saw them before.

I say the manga is better than the Anime. This is becuase the Manga details the Fisher King icident better (the anime completly ruined it) and no filler arc.

Imho I prefer the manga of Bleach. It's obviously way ahead of the anime (in terms of plot and such), so you won't get bored.

My favorite thing about Bleach: the characters. All of them are well developed with believable background, and quirky personality traits (like Uryu's sewing, for example).spoiler[ The latest chapters are especially tear inducing. Oh how I feel for our unfortumate heroims Poor Rukia and Orihime! I really hope Rukia is okay... Crying or Very sad]

Btw, would anyone mind mentioning how the anime ruined the fisher arc? I remeber there was a filler-y character, but was there anything besides that???

The manga is cool. And so is the anime (gotta love the BG music, though the bount crap they keep playing is a strain on my ears). I don't think it's like watching the same scene over again. Even though the anime is just a flashy wow-look-they-move re-make of the manga, they each bring a different perspective to many of the going ons. Oh dear, did I just say going ons?? Laughing

Read up to the beginning of the SS arc for better character interaction and nuances. Everything after that point is close enough.
