I honestly don't know but you can probably try asking the folks at the Christian Anime Alliance. Not that I'm kicking you out, in fact, Welcome to the forums! Is what I'd rather just say, but recommendation threads aren't allowed here right now.

Good luck with the anime hunt though.

Edit: Oh, they're letting it stay open for a day. Cool. Nevermind then, welcome to the forums, and I hope you get some good help finding anime. Very Happy

Well, the classic of this sub-genre of anime would probably be The Flying House, a rather poorly animated and poorly told series dealing with some children time-travelling to the events of the Bible.

It's technically and intellectually on a par with Jack Chick tracts.... I've seen quite a bit of it, and it has always struck me as the sort of thing that seems almost calculated to instill atheism in kids. "If God really is great, why can't his story be told by someone who can draw?"

It's like one of those tele-evangelists with a bad wig and a cheap suit. I know, prophets sometimes come in odd shapes (look at John the Baptist), but really.... sometimes I wish Jesus would speak to me through someone with dress sense.

I'll leave this thread open for the day, given the special set of circumstances. But as a reminder to everyone posting potential suggestions:

I already deleted one post that just said "Hellsing" and nothing more. Explain why you're making a recommendation and how it's relavent to the author's request.

If this turns into a religious/political debate, I'm locking it (or maybe another mod will do so in my place if I'm not around at the time).

Thank you, Tony for keeping this forum still a place for freedom of religion and for understanding me being a newbie.

I am just looking for Christian animes or animes that display Christian principles. I am not here to discuss on religious topics either.

I guess this is hunting for anime then. (When I type "bible" on the search it came out with so many links to Bible Black New Testament, which is clearly not what I was even thinking of.) Well thanks for keeping it up for a day. The links given for Christian anime net is good. I will search it there too.

Maybe it will be nice to see newly Christian animes. The Bible has great stories. I like to see great art and great stories told.

The Flying House seems to be a decent anime. It looks old, poor animation. Sad But from its stories, it seems interesting.

At least you got an answer for Abunai, I can't think of a single anime I have seen that would be Christian. Remember though, anime comes from Japan, and Japan isn't really a Christian country. While many may have religious or pseudo-Christian content, none are probably what you are looking for.
You would have much better luck with cartoons, where there are many illustrated stories of the bible told that way, and christian themed shows, mainly aimed at children.
My kids (and I) LOVE Veggie Tales.

Since you have searched the site with "Bible" as the keyword, you might want to take a look at the second title from the bottom of the search result (none of the other titles are related to Bible anyway). As far as I know this is the only anime title that follows closely to the Bible, but it covers only parts of the Old Testament and is not easily obtainable by North American residents.

Wow TK's so nice today... Maybe it's because of this bible talk.. But then again, TK's not so bad Laughing Laughing

Yeah definitely the flying house.. I watched it when I was younger, and I rewatched it a couple of years ago when they had a the flying house marathon for holy week.. That's where I learned most about the bible, cause I started going to a catholic school when I was in second grade, and I didn't study religion much until then

Chrno Crusade sort of fits that category (I understand that it may be different in other countries, but here in the Phils. Catholicism and Christianity are almost interchangable).. I say "sort of" cause they make use of content from the bible, mostly from the book of Revelation, and they talk about the pope, mary magdalene, stigmata, lady Fatima, etc. but the nuns and priests are portrayed in a totally different way (nuns in real life don't really use guns) and of course, they kinda brought monsters and demons to life.. I thought it was a bit blasphemous, but then again it's just anime...

This isn't some lazy teen looking for someone else to trudge through the Shonen Jump stable and pick out the winners from them- it is indeed difficult to pick out anime with a real Christian theme, as opposed to just using it as pointless background noise (Eva) or an excuse to play up a gothic setting (Hellsing, Trinity Blood... most anything with vampires, really).

Anyway- Look up Saint Tail.I think it's the best example of a "regular" anime genre (magical girl, in this case) getting a genuine dose of christian values pumped in. Watch the subtitled version tho', the dub loses some punch (most notably replacing the pre-heist prayer with some magical speech mumbo-jumbo). Even better, get the manga. Wink

You'll probably be hard-pressed to find it, but In the Beginning is a bible adaption by Osamu Tesuka himself. I bet it'll be worth your time to hunt something down.

That's like saying Trinity Blood was sorta a Christian show.
It really isn't.
I really think this isn't what the poster wanted.

I might be wrong, but I've noticed they'll give a recommendations thread a chance when it is not something that is commonly asked for or easy to find through search engines. Anime with Cristian principles is not something that is very often asked about. I also saw a recommendations thread a few months back left open because the OP was asking for recommendations that his/her parents might like. Most recommendations tend to lean to the same thing, asking for help finding shounen, romance, or comedy and such which are far easier to look up without asking for recommendations.

Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Massively Christian. Converted me to the Lord's work (I now go on pilgrimages regularly) after a long, dark life of godless atheism.

So it's ok to ask for recommendations for "difficult to find" anime, or just Christian ones? I just wanna know because I remember asking for permission to start a recommendation thread about a subject that is close to my heart and rather difficult to find, but I was told I shouldn't do it... (but it was started by someone else later on anyway). I would just hate to see a bias towards a certain religion. Because this OP contains all the marks of a really bad OP - first time poster who has not read teh rules, one-liner, no context about what they mean, what they've tried, what they expect.

But that's all I say before Tony explains his reasoning, otherwise it's just useless speculation.
