OK, some rules
Rule 1 - Do not post "who cares, it's just anime" Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something - Plato keep this in mind I get bored, my mind wanders, and so it happened to think about this. Rule 2 - Cite sources (if needed) Rule 3 - Throw theories out there, we'll discuss their relevance and potential. Rule 4 - Have fun Now, to start, I have only seen the TV and movie, read only up to vol 4 of the manga. Obviously, the theology will differ somewhat but lets keep an open mind. The premises of the series always has been the idea of equivalent trade (referred to as EqT) and cycles (circles, continuing loops, a flow). Now, assume that the ideas portrayed are true, meaning the EqT rule does, in fact, exist. This also means we will have to accept the mini-gate idea (despite speculation). Now, everything is always lose-gain, thus this rule has to apply to everything said, including the Phil. Stone (referred to as PS). We'll discuss it later if needed. Finally, souls are a form of energy, and because it is designated as energy, it must follow the same [url-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy]rules as energy. Now, my theory is that there are many gates, rather than only one, and can be naturally occurring. The small ones that alchemists use for energy supply, within themselves, and the man gate that is portrayed similarly to the "Gates of Hell". These are separate gates. To our knowledge, we have never seen any of the small gates, only the main one, thus it was an idea that the small gates were a gateway to the gate, and are manipulated. If that were true, the main gate would consume all those who practice alchemy. However, when using a smaller gate, an alchemist himself can escape the EqT rule, but it is taken from others eventually. Now, keeping this in mind, the gate manifests itself when death or life is imminent, when the bonds between body-mind-soul are manipulated. So, as alchemists manipulates his own bonds to manifest his gate, assuming it appears for his soul, he in essence "tricks it" and while the gate is opened, steals souls from the other side and uses said power. Now, because one side is depleted, power of the souls of those who died on the same side are used to "refill" the depleted portion by passing through the gate in death; so there are always alchemists using souls from the other side of the gate and it (the gate) is always looking for its part of equivalent trade. Soul usage from one side creates a demand for soul energy. The universe is naturally completely balanced, and when an alchemist manipulated this it mist be rebalanced. As any reasonably educated person will tell you one of the fundamental rules of science is that matter, as well as energy, is never used up, it simply changes forms. The raw form of a soul is used, manipulated and changes forms to say all other known forms of energy (heat, light, movement, electricity ect.) Since one universe is balanced, the other must be as well, which creates this "flow of souls." So how does this fit all together? Let me remind you that the gate does not only accept souls, it accepts matter as well. Human flesh as well as materials. Now assuming it is always looking for it's share of equivalent trade, and accepts matter as well as souls, theoretically, on its own accord, can manifest and take whatever it needs to satisfy the balance between the worlds, this is based on the end of the movie, which they see the bomb had not been destroyed, but moved realms. Though this does satisfy some questions, I would like to hear some other opinions. But, I have to go to work, so ill check back soon. Ask questions if I haven't explained myself properly, I will try and make it more understandable. |
